Stop the presses! Flack has found a new home. Season two of the cancelled Pop comedy-drama TV series has been picked up by Amazon Prime.
Flack stars Anna Paquin, Sophie Okonedo, Genevieve Angelson, Lydia Wilson, Rebecca Benson, Arinzé Kene, Marc Warren, Rufus Jones, and Andrew Leung. The story centers on crisis PR strategist and publicity expert Robyn (Paquin), who excels in the London offices of the Mills Paulson agency, but can’t stop sabotaging her personal life.
The first season of Flack averaged a 0.01 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 48,000 viewers on Pop TV. The six episodes aired in February and March of 2019 in the United States. The show is produced in association with UKTV, a British broadcaster.
While the Pop ratings were low, Flack was renewed for a second season in August 2019 with Daniel Dae Kim and Sam Neill joining the cast. Martha Plimpton, Jane Horrocks, Giles Terera, and Amanda Abbington were added as guest stars.
In March of this year, Pop TV cancelled plans to air season two, a week before it was set to premiere. The six episodes had already been produced so producer Jimmy Mulville said, “It’s sad to end the show on Pop, the first season did well for them and UKTV. I’m confident that we’ll be able to find another home for the show. There’s no shortage of platforms.”
Today, Deadline reported that those efforts have been successful and seasons one and two of Flack will be made available on Amazon Prime’s streaming platform (the first season had previously been available). A date for the U.S. release of season two was not announced but the sophomore season debuted in April of this year on the W channel in the United Kingdom.
It’s understood that Amazon’s deal will allow the streaming service to potentially pick up a third season of Flack.
What do you think? Do you like the Flack TV series? Are you glad that you’ll be able to finally see the second season?
Cannot wait for season 2!! I cannot even believe anyone would cancel this show! Loveeee it & hope it airs soon!
It like if AB FAB was serious….love this shoe
Yes, please! This is a bold show with interesting characters.
So glad Amazon picked up the canceled series…it’s in my top 10 favs of tv series!!!
My husband and I love Flack! So excited to hear we’ll finally be able to get to see season 2! Fingers crossed for a
third season.
Yay!
Great show! Hope season 2 airs soon!
Flack is an amazing show! I cannot even comprehend the possibility of this show being canceled! There are no alternatives! I was sad to begin with that the show has only 6 episodes per season. This is a GREAT show! The plot, the characters, the script! Just AMAZING!
I never understood how or why POP would have dropped it a week! before it was supposed to air. I believe POP changed hands but it still didn’t make sense for an already in-the-can show to be dropped like that. Or why during the pandemic, when content was becoming scarce, it wasn’t picked up sooner. But so glad now getting an Amazon reboot! I think it’s set to air January 22.
I LOVE this show. Anna Paquin is outstanding and her supporting cast is stellar.
The story line with her sister doesn’t seem to fit, otherwise it is superb.
I don’t know how the critics could be so wrong about this show. Please let there be
a season three!
Pleased to see Flack will return for another season.
Absolutely delighted!!
like the show but not crazy about having to pay to watch it.
I am thrilled that Amazon picked it, it’s the perfect vehicle for this show. Amazon can afford to get terrific writers so there is no reason the show would go downhill. I managed to see the first three episodes of Season 2, and am looking forward to viewing the remaining three. This is great news!
Season one is not available on Amazon Prime
Thanks for the tip. It was available but isn’t any longer.
Yes it is I just watched it
If you have not seen season 1 then you should give it a try because it is a real gem.
But, on initial viewing it may not seem to be showing you anything really interesting but if you persevere for a couple of episodes you will be rewarded and when you get to the episode with Bradley Whitford, it will amaze you and horrify you in equal measure but you will love how things unfold.
Yes, it was fun, am very glad it will here now. My UK friends saw series 2 and I was so disappointed POP dumped it, the way they did Wolf Creek series 2. I spent a fortune tracking that down on DVD. Am elated, actually, that I can watch Anna Paquin again.
