The rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.
NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.
Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.
It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.
The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.
The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.
What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?
Great show. To bad over so soon
Great show, to bad it’s over so soon.
It doesn’t shock me, but it saddens me. I’ve seen a lot of cops praise the show for its accuracy which is something that most cop shows fail at. I think this one just came a little too late. Everyone is done with police dramas now because of the over-kill from the networks. It got stuck in a poor time slot, had minimal advertising, and the general distaste for the genre from the populace kept people from tuning in for even one episode. My only hope is that they’ll at least air all twelve episodes. And for gods sake, someone… Read more »
This show was disappointing right out of the gate. Try watching Rookie Blue instead and you will see how to make an entertaining classy show about rookie cops.
I’m extremely dissapointed as well. I was taping this and am on episode 3 of 4. I guess they stopped airing it because it didn’t tape while I was watching celebrity apprentice it sucks because it wasn’t given a chance!!!!!
CBS is a bunch of ******* *****, one of the best shows they had in there line up.
I agree. They are biased and only want stupid lily white stuff!
This Show ROCKS !!
please keep airing it. They always seem to do this with the really cool new shows.
Shame on you CBS. Think of the viewer instead of your wallet.
Are you kidding me? I’m so pissed. I love this show.
no surprise–rookies out on the street- partners- no training officers-stumbling on complicated investigations–poor detail with atrocious weapon and equipment handling skills- unbelieveable police proceedures–sorry -pull the plug
Wow this sucks!! I love this show now there is nothing to watch on Sunday Night
[…] TV show dates: April 15, 2012 – present Series status: Cancelled […]
I’m SOOOOO MAD!!!! This was my favorite show, it’s one of the only shows I can watch during the Summer while Blue Bloods and Hawaii Five-0 are not on. I think it’s a great show about the average rookie cops, not a boring show about detectives with cases that are the same over and over and over again.
WTF !!!! I started crying I love this show it showed stuff that could actually happen and and not some scripted bs like survivor. People should hate CBS for canceling and making a 16 year old cry. #child abuse
The ONLY reason CSI: Miami is being cancelled is because they put it in the sunday night death slot, where you need to tape on average 2 hrs over show end time in order to see it all! I am so sick of these execs, I just saw ALL my shows are no cancelled!
You have to be kidding. They are canceling this show before it even gets started.
I enjoy this show very much and am extremely dissapointed that they won’t be continuing it. I guess I will have to keep watching the old and repetitive shows like csi, house, castle and law and order. Nyc 22 was something new and funny too bad we can’t give new shows a chance.
