“Divorce in the Black” Drives More U.S. Prime Video Subscriptions Than Any Other Amazon MGM Studios-Produced Movie

Amazon has shared that Tyler Perry‘s latest film, “Divorce in the Black,” has driven more sign-ups to Prime Video in the U.S. than any Amazon MGM Studios-produced movie to-date.

Having premiered on streaming on July 11, the film has drawn not only significant increase in sign-ups, but notably strong viewership overall. Nielsen reported that the film hit more than 498 million minutes watched in its first four days of availability on Amazon Prime Video.

Directed and written by Perry, the film follows Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for. However, fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate. The film stars Meagan Good, Cory Hardrict, Joseph Lee Anderson, Taylor Polidore, Shannon Wallace, Richard Lawson, and Debbi Morgan, and names Good, Angi Bones, Will Areu, and Dianne Ashford as producers alongside Perry.

This project marks Perry’s latest installment in the four-picture deal he inked with Amazon Studios in 2022. Perry has so far announced two other films as part of the deal: the dramas “Joy Ridge” and “Black, White, & Blue.”

Stream “Divorce in the Black” now on Prime Video.
