How should companies properly assess legal risks when investing in Ukraine during martial law? Why do foreign companies need to pay sufficient attention to legal issues when preparing an investment project in Ukraine? These questions were thoroughly discussed by Vadym Romaniuk, the head of the Banking and Finance Practice at PwC Ukraine, during a webinar organized by the Ukraine Britain Business Council. The expert emphasized that regulations and controls in Ukraine are much stricter during martial law than in peacetime. Therefore, a market entry strategy must include a detailed analysis of the legal framework to avoid unpleasant situations in the future, such as: 📌 Limited ability to pay dividends to foreign individuals due to currency restrictions 📌 Limitations on repaying loans to foreign financial institutions 📌Difficulties in registering subsidiaries, representative offices and branches in Ukraine 📌 Additional tax assessments and penalties during tax audits This is why a SWOT analysis that includes a detailed examination of tax and legal issues is crucial for success.
