The UAS REC Center is your source for recreation on the Juneau campus. Boulder and climb on belay over textured panels; challenging routes marked for any skill level—equipment and instruction are provided. The REC offers a weight room, rock climbing wall, studio, and a suspended running track with an assortment of cardio equipment that overlooks a full court gym.
Áak'w Tá Hít is a center dedicated to scientific research and student learning. The new coastal facility houses the classrooms, laboratories, and field research operations necessary for scientists and students to address the complex environmental questions facing the planet.

The glacial outburst floods from Suicide Basin are some of the most studied in the world. For 14 years, UAS faculty Eran Hood and Jason Amundson, have worked in partnership with the National Weather Service and the City and Borough of Juneau to study and map Suicide Basin. As Juneau responds to the 2024 glacial outburst flood, community members have a lot of questions about what is happening at Suicide Basin each year, and what steps can be taken to protect our community.
UAS has campuses in Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan. The UAS Juneau campus, located on Auke Bay, offers students residential housing and the campus life experience. This is Lingít Word of the Week. Each week, we feature a Lingít word voiced by master speakers. Lingít has been spoken throughout present-day Southeast Alaska and parts of Canada for over ten thousand years.
