The Budo Red Lions Soar with JESA In a thrilling display of skill and determination, The King's College Budo Red Lions rugby team emerged victorious again as they secured the prestigious Rugby 15s National Championship title. The team's journey to victory was marked by their unwavering commitment and unmatched teamwork, making them the undisputed champions of the season. Led by their inspirational captain, Katende Yusuf the team showcased their courage right from the outset of the championship. Their dominance on the field was evident as they navigated through the intense competition with precision and skill. The team faced formidable opponents, Ntare, Makerere College School and St Mary’s Kitende, each eager to claim the desired title. However, The Red Lions remained resolute, relying on their collective strength and resilience to overcome every obstacle in their path. One of the defining moments of their journey was the semifinal match against Makerere College School, where they displayed exceptional skill and determination to secure a hard-fought victory. The team's performance in this crucial match not only showcased their talent but also highlighted their ability to come together as a unit when it mattered most. As the final whistle blew, the stadium erupted in cheer as fans and supporters alike celebrated the triumph! Their victory will be remembered as a testament to the power of teamwork and determination, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. JESA partners with Ekisakaate Kya Nnabagereka to enhance nutrition in children On January 9th, we donated one hundred and twenty (120) cartons of milk towards the Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka. This act of giving is part of JESA’s broader initiatives to promote milk consumption in both schools and households, fostering improved dietary habits within communities. “Milk is a very important food for growing children since it provides all food values and ensures strong bones and teeth. This partnership with the Nnabagereka Development Foundation provides one of the platforms that JESA is using to encourage milk consumption in schools and homes, as well as improve dietary habits among households,” said Barbara Kizza JESA’s Marketing Executive during the handover ceremony. Ms. Kizza also commended ‘Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka’ for the work done in grooming the young generation in lifelong skills that enhance their quality of life and equip them to handle the changing times. Ekisaakaate was founded with the aim of nurturing young girls and boys into holistic persons with a mix of both modern and traditional values. Ekisaakaate is derived from the Luganda language, and it means an enclosure where young boys were trained into leaders. These young boys acquired leadership and other political skills, knowledge of cultural practices and values, as well as occupational skills, such as blacksmithing. At the end of the training, they were considered educated citizens. They were often appointed as the King’s chiefs while others were sent to work in the palace in the belief that the boy’s training ensured continuity of leadership within the kingdom. Girls did not undergo this cultural training but were culturally tutored at home by their mothers, paternal aunts, and paternal grandparents, who played an important function in passing on traditional values and social skills. #JESACSR
