UpEnergy was honored to attend the launch of the £5 million 'Clean Cooking Programme' at the British High Commissioner's residence in Uganda. This launch event, led by the UK in Uganda partnership with the Government of Uganda and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (Uganda) through the Global Green Growth Institute Uganda Office, marks a major step towards transitioning 65% of Uganda's population to cleaner cooking methods by 2030. We proudly showcased our Electric Cooker with a live interactive demonstration, the only one featured at this high-level event. Our Electric Cookers play a crucial role in climate change mitigation by using the cleanest zero-emission fuel: electricity. Article 6 Progress Update UpEnergy is pleased to announce our first issuance of carbon credits from TZ (VCS 2676) labeled for both Article 6 Authorization (all use cases) and SDVista with VERRA. This marks Tanzania’s first-ever carbon credits authorized for corresponding adjustments under Article 6 of the Paris agreement. Additionally, we have also issued our second monitoring period, totalling 270,000+ credits, authorised by the Republic of Tanzania for all three use cases: NDC, IMP, and other purposes. This issuance has already received a Letter of Authorization and will also be tagged by VERRA in the coming weeks. This transaction for credits authorized to be correspondingly adjusted is not counted in the host country’s carbon inventory but can be counted in the buyer's inventory, supporting both compliance and voluntary markets. UpEnergy plans to distribute 425,000 cookstoves in Tanzania through the  Community Carbon initiative which is supported by investment from Carbon Streaming Corporation.
