The 4D team enjoyed a lovely lunch together for our summer social this week☀. It was a nice change to step away from the office and enjoy some well deserved time celebrating all of our latest achievements.

4Degra® 3D printing biomaterials - helping people heal. Regenerative, resorbable and customisable.
About us
The market for polymeric biomaterials is growing quickly, but despite this growth, it is widely recognised in the industry that the ‘holy grail’ solution has not yet been developed. The ideal biomaterial for use in regenerative medicine must: be biocompatible; promote tissue regeneration; have non-toxic biodegradation, have mechanical properties suited to the host tissue and good handling properties in a clinical environment. Our people have developed a patented range of novel polymeric 3-D printing resin-inks that promise, uniquely, to meet all of the above requirements and offer important advantages over the next best alternatives. The polymers and their degradation products are non-toxic and their properties can be tuned to suit a wide range of tissue regeneration applications. These 3-D printable resin-inks will enable medical implants to be fitted to the exact shape and dimensional requirements of each patient, optimising outcomes in applications such as cancer treatment, degenerative spinal conditions and reconstructive surgery. Initial in-vitro and in-vivo testing has provided strong evidence of the anticipated biocompatibility and tissue regeneration properties that will enable multiple stakeholders in the health sector to benefit from improved treatment options for a range of life-changing conditions, not least the patients themselves.

Thanks to the British Business Bank team for inviting me to join their panel of entrepreneurs last week to talk about how BBB funding has made a positive impact in the midlands. In the case of 4D Biomaterials, BBB funding played a key role in our pre-seed and seed rounds, helping us get off to a great start. It was fascinating to hear the experiences of the other panelists and how they have benefited from the various parts of the BBB ecosystem, such as Start-up Loans, the Regional Angels Programme and the Midlands Engine Investment Fund. If you need funding for your business, I suggest you explore what the BBB has to offer at http://lnkd.in/e7R_pvQb And if you are looking for cool socks, great outdoor gear or exceptional gins, check out my fellow panelists Sylvia Abaokporo David Hanney and Tina Warner-Keogh. #businessfunding #financeforgrowth #businessgrowth #icure

We're excited to announce that 4D Medicine Limited has appointed Dr Tom Buckland as its new Chairman and Non-executive Director. Tom joins the Board with vast experience in executive leadership roles within the medical device industry. Tom has been instrumental in driving the rapid growth of university medtech spin-outs and leading them to successful exits. Tom’s first venture, ApaTech Limited, a spin-out from the University of London, was sold to Baxter International for $330M in 2010. In 2020, Tom led Aberdeen University medtech spin-out Sirakoss to an exit worth $11M. 4D Medicine Limited is the parent company to two wholly owned subsidiaries, (4D Biomaterials Ltd and 4D Medical Devices Ltd) each with specific functions in the research, development and commercialisation of new resorbable biomaterials and implantable medical devices that help people heal. 4Degra® is a resorbable biomaterial suited to a wide range of implantable medical device applications. It is a photocurable resin that can be processed into the finished device form by 3D printing, casting or conversion into thin films or meshes.
