Aberdeen Science Centre is excited to announce a new incentive allowing us to offer half-price entry to visitors who travel sustainably to the centre.   https://lnkd.in/eFrx23_V   From 8-30 September, visitors who arrive on foot or wheels, by public transport, electric vehicle, or other eco-friendly means can enjoy this limited-time offer upon showing proof of their green journey. This initiative supports our commitment to sustainability and education, complementing the launch of our latest STEM workshop, “Fuelling the Future,” which explores alternative transportation methods and the environmental impact of traditional fuels. Both the sustainable travel incentive and our newest workshop have been funded by Smarter Choices Smarter Places, which is Paths for All programme to increase active and sustainable travel throughout Scotland. The programme is grant-funded by Transport Scotland. Aberdeen Science Centre is thrilled to be launching our latest workshop, made possible through generous funding from Thistle Wind Partners (TWP). 'From Gust to Grid' will help participants develop an understanding of the power of wind, from the early days of sailing boats to today’s cutting-edge wind turbines. We’re proud to be offering this session free of charge, including travel costs, to around 300 school pupils from Stonehaven and to be delivering 10 community sessions to underserved groups in the local area - all thanks to TWP. Aberdeen Science Centre partnered with Norway’s Vitenfabrikken to bring you a video that dives into the renewable energy sources driving both Scotland and Norway toward net zero! This is just one piece of our ongoing North Sea Collaboration Project. ⚡ Together with Vitenfabrikken and Equinor, we are exploring the innovative carbon emissions reduction solutions being developed by Scotland and Norway through various science activities and educational tools. The winds of change are coming to Aberdeen Science Centre this Saturday as we welcome back our Offshore Wind 4 Kids workshops!    Sponsored by My Energy Future powered by OPITO, we will be hosting a free public open day for families to enjoy the special renewable energy-focused sessions on Saturday, September 7.    During the workshops, which will run four times throughout the day, our visitors will get hands-on with model floating offshore wind turbines as they discover how they create energy and how different bases allow them to stay afloat on the water – before testing the models in our outdoor water tank!    Visitors will also get to enjoy the OPITO Theatre of Energy and an indoor activity station where they can explore the inner workings of a wind turbine.      This hands on experience will make learning about renewable energy a breeze!
