🌈 🌞 It's Not All Sunshine and Rainbows... But It Could Be! 🌞 🌈 This Friday 14th June, Galop is launching its biggest Pride campaign in our 42-year history, thanks to ADOT FOUNDATION, Gravity Road, Engine House - Realtime Animation Collective, Virtual Sound and the team at Outernet London. Until 30th June, Galop and Gravity Road's immersive activation *The Storm Shelter* will be at Outernet London, highlighting the rise in anti-LGBT+ hate crime during Pride. Every Pride season when it should be sunshine and rainbows, Galop sees a 60% increase in LGBT+ hate crime victims accessing their support. There were over 30,000 anti-LGBT+ hate crimes in the UK last year, but over 90% of hate crimes against the community go unreported, so the real number of victims is likely to be much higher. This year, the storm continues, as the UK has fallen to 16th place on ILGA-Europe’s ranking for 'safe countries' for LGBT+ people - our lowest ever ranking. Just nine years ago, we placed 1st. It’s not all doom and gloom, but Galop needs your help to clear away the storm and bring back the good weather! The Storm Shelter is an immersive campaign featuring the voices of LGBT+ celebrities and allies, including Dr Who actor David Tennant, voice of I Kissed A Girl, Charley Marlowe, West End hit My Son’s A Queer actor, Rob Madge, former Holby City and Coronation Street star, Charlie Condou, writer Jamie Windust, actor Nathan Foad, Great British Bake Off’s Jausz Domagala, and drag artist, Asifa Lahore. Accompanying them are the voices of real victims of hate crime.
