Last week we held a two day Staff Conference at Plough Lane to wrap up the Summer and prepare for the year ahead. We were fortunate to be joined by Heather Lewis for a workshop on Self-Care and by UTurn for a session on Contextual Safeguarding. Other sessions including ED&I, team building activities and strategic planning. #AFCW 💛 💙

The last two weeks I have delivered our Mental Health Foundation Sport Trauma Informed Relationship training and Staff Wellbeing training in 4 awesome football clubs Everton in the Community Norwich City Football Club Community Sports Foundation Brighton and Hove Albion Foundation and AFC Wimbledon Foundation It’s been awesome to see the positive and preventative impact in four communities in the South, East and North West of England positively impacting mental health of people across the lifecourse. It’s been a joy as always to talk about really important life changing practices, understand evidence based theories & have some fun and competition too. A privilege to teach as well as learn from brilliant practitioners. This is especially encouraging in a week where we’ve produced a report highlighting that poor mental health remains the biggest contributor to overall population ill-health in the UK and the systemic issues around funding, social care delivery, workforce and capital are holding many Integrated Care Systems back. Football continues to meet many needs, providing funding, trusted people, fun and expertise where there’s real gaps. Well done The Premier League Charitable Fund and EFL in the Community and all your 100+ Club Community Organisations. You’re standing in the widening gap and changing lives.
