Architecture and Planning
Creating balance and harmony between places, people and the planet.
About us
We believe architecture and the environment should work seamlessly. APG is a general practice with a diverse range of work from feasibility through to project delivery predominantly in residential commercial and public sectors. Whilst the work is mainly in the UK, we have also carried out projects in continental Europe and currently working with consultants in California USA. The principle activities are in architecture, planning urban design, interior design and Project Safety, with a good balance in both public and private sectors. The practice has developed a reputation for excellence in dealing with sensitive historic sites, has won several competitions and received a number of awards for projects, including civic trust and RIBA awards. The concern for context and environmental sustainability is a guiding principle that in all APG's work, which includes many large scale developments where socio-environmental impact is an important consideration. Indeed, it is an essential strand of APG's philosophical approach, which is based upon a desire to exert a positive influence rather than to be led purely by market forces. APG, through its involvement in large projects with difficult financial constraints, has developed a keen sense of commercial pragmatism and value for money, ensuring that the practice is well regarded and trusted by its clients. The combination of a strong commitment to design which is environmentally and socio-economically appropriate to the site, along with a solid responsible attitude to economics and cost control makes APG, we believe, one of the select band of design consultancies. We are a practice that consistently performs at a high level and in the most effective manner, no matter how difficult the brief.

While the students are away the builders come to play 👷♀️ 🎓 While the students at Falmouth University are on their summer break, works are being undertaken to refurbish and upgrade their library at Woodlane Campus! The design focuses on using sustainable materials to create a welcoming and calming space to help students reach their potential! Careful consideration has gone into designing a space that reflects the needs of students with neurodiversity 🧠 #OnSite #ProjectUpdate #SustainableDesign #Reuse #EdcuationalArchitecture

🌟 Farewell and Good Luck to Reuben! 🎓 As the new academic year approaches, we bid a fond farewell to Reuben as he heads back to the University of Bath to continue his Architectural Studies 🏛️. Over the past six months, Reuben has been an essential part of our team. We recently celebrated his contributions with a farewell indoor picnic (Good British summer weather 🌧️). Best of luck with your studies, Reuben! Keep reaching new heights! 🌟 #AcademicJourney #TeamPlayer #BestWishes #Part1ArchitecturalAssistant

Yesterday was Cycle to Work Day 2024! Our team was pumped to pedal to the office, helmets on and ready to go. Over 70% of the team already walk 🚶or cycle 🚴♂️ to work every day, reducing our carbon footprint, and making a healthier and happier commute! 👊 💚 #CycleToWorkDay #HealthyCommute #PedalPower

🏄♂️ When construction is complete, a building's life has just begun! 🏢 The Wave has been a regular haunt for our team, and it's been amazing to see this space evolve and adapt over the last 5 years. We're absolutely loving this latest evolution – the new lights are creating some truly awesome night surfs! 🌊 🌌 A well-designed sustainable space can and should continue to evolve and provide new experiences long after the construction phase. 🏗️ 🌿 Here's to many more nights of surf and enjoyment at The Wave! 🏄♀️ #TheWave #NightSurfing #ArchitectureInAction #BuildingLife #EvolutionInDesign

🌞 This summer, some of our team swapped desks for evening waves by working at our Wadebridge office! 🌊 💼 Instead of just a work/life balance, we're helping them achieve the ultimate work/surf balance. 🏄♀️ It's been a fantastic way to blend productive workdays with some well-deserved fun in the sun. #FlexibleWorking #WorkSurfBalance #APGArchitecture #SummerVibes #TeamWellbeing #CornwallOffice

We are big fans of the MVHR 'Discovery Room' in Stonewood's Elm Grove show home, it really blew us away! Communicating to new residents how passivhaus homes work is a key part of ensuring smooth and efficient operating. This ventilation system really does breathe new life into the space! #FeelGoodFriday #SustainableArchitecture #Sustainability #Passivhaus #PunFun

🌟 It's been fantastic over the last month to host students from Bristol and the surrounding area schools for work experience. 🎓 ✏️ Here are some examples of their awesome work! 🏡 We host between 6-8 students a year, guiding them through a hypothetical project of designing a house for a celebrity! Each student brings their own unique perspective and ideas, and leave, we hope, with a better understanding of how we design as architects. 🌟 #WorkExperience #NextGeneration #SustainableDesign #Inspiring #APGArchitecture
