The UK’s statutory regulator for architects. We keep an online public register of 42,000+ architects.
About us
The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the UK’s independent, statutory regulator of architects. We work in the public interest to protect those who use or may use architects’ services and support architects through regulation. We keep a public register of 42,000+ architects which you can search online - architects-register.org.uk. Only those on this Register can legally call themselves an architect in the UK. We set the qualifications and experience required to be an architect, as well as standards of conduct and practice. We can investigate complaints about the conduct or practice of architects, and about someone calling themselves an architect illegally. We are also the UK’s Competent Authority for architects.

ARB is currently consulting on our General Rules and new Registration Rules. We are seeking to refine the General Rules to improve clarity and consistency of processes and policies as well as create a separate document for registration rules, which will cover how people can become registered for the first time, how architects can maintain their registration, and how former architects can be reinstated to the Register.
