📢 New blog post: Georgia’s foreign influence law targets human rights activists. Here’s how funders can take action. In June, the controversial Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence, which severely restricts civil society in the country, went into effect in Georgia. The law, similar to legislation in Russia that has been used to detain activists and restrict members of the press, requires civil society and media organizations that receive more than 20 percent of their revenue from abroad to register as ‘organizations serving the interests of a foreign power.’ 📝 This article was written by Salome Chagelishvili from Women's Fund in Georgia, Kate Kroeger from Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism and Nino Ugrekhelidze from Dalan Fund. The op-ed was first published in Alliance Magazine. 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dR92N88z

👉 We invite you to read this blog by Mariam Gagoshashvili, founding advisor of Dalan Fund, which connects the links between regressive legislation and gender ideology. #philanthropy #humanrights #CEECCNA #Georgia Alliance magazine
After having adopted the Foreign Agent´s Law just a few days ago, today the Georgian parliament re-introduced the ´bill on family values and protection of minors´ that aims to limit the rights of LGBTQI people in #Georgia. 💡 Don't miss this contribution for Alliance magazine by Nino Ugrekhelidze, Co-Founder and Lead and Ekaterine Danelia, MEAL Coordinator of the Dalan Fund, in which they reflect on the ongoing crises across Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central and North Asia (#CEECCNA) regions.
'Our region is on fire' - says an LGBT+ defender from Belarus Nick Antipov. The data from the Human Rights Funders Network (HRFN)'s latest report The Trust Gap shows that in 2019 out of $4.1 billion distributed to human rights around the world only $89 million (2%) was allocated to Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Read our blog for the Alliance Magazine where our Co-Founder and Lead Nino Ugrekhelidze and MEAL Coordinator Ekaterine Danelia reflect on the ongoing crises across Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central and North Asia (#CEECCNA) regions. Together with regional activists, we unpack a few puzzle pieces and political undercurrents important for understanding what's going on and how funders and the international community can strategically step up at this critical time in the history of the regions. https://lnkd.in/dVkhiMUT
