🚍 ⚡ Arriva's zero-emission journey in the Czech Republic is gaining momentum! Today, ARRIVA CZ welcomed 16 next-generation electric buses into our fleet in Kladno – and started phasing out the city’s 47 diesel and CNG vehicles. Supported by a new state-of-the-art charging hub, this transition is improving air quality, enhancing the customer experience and helping to make passenger transport the best choice. We're proud to shape a greener, more sustainable future as we continue to decarbonise public transport across Europe. 👇 https://gloo.to/F1n9

We're proud to launch #KitForKyiv in partnership with Global Ukraine Rail Task Force and supported by RAIL Magazine to fund body armour and helmets for  АТ "Укрзалізниця" (Ukrainian Railway) rail workers. Each £20 donation will ensure one Ukrainian rail employee can be provided with an armoured personal protective vest and helmet. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the railway has played a key role in the conflict. It has helped to evacuate civilians in the first days of the conflict, stepped in to provide a vital lifeline for grain exports, following the closure of the Black Sea Ports, and helped with troop movements and evacuating injured personnel. Known in Ukraine as the ‘Iron People', Ukrainian rail employees are often working in dangerous areas and are the last to leave territories under attack. Even away from the frontline, stations are often targeted by missiles and drones. They need protective equipment to keep them safe while they’re at work. Thank you to our gold donors Arriva Group, DB Cargo (UK) Limited, FirstGroup plc and Transport UK Group and our silver donors The Go-Ahead Group and MTR Corporation (UK) Limited who have provided donations to protect over 2,500 rail workers to kickstart the campaign. This is the third time Grace-Anne's dedication has been recognised over the past year, having been shortlisted for the Samaritans Lifesaver Award at the RailStaff Awards and also winning Employee of the Year at our Shining Star Awards. Thanks to the excellent work of colleagues across ARL, we've also been shortlisted for Passenger Operator of the Year. 🚆 Thank you to each and every one of our fantastic team for playing a part in this nomination. Sometimes it's the simple things that make all the difference. Our team at Arriva Italia are making life easier for cyclists around LakeComo this summer by adapting our buses to carry bicycles so they can connect with popular cycling routes without the need to drive their cars. This reduces pollution and traffic congestion in this beautiful holiday hotspot 😊 🚴♂️ 🚴♀️ 🚍

Earlier this year we invested in 24 zero-emission electric buses at our Leicester depot, a further 25 electric buses are now expected to be introduced at the depot following announcement of the second phase of ZEBRA (Zero-emission Bus Regional Areas) scheme as part of the Leicester Buses Partnership between Arriva, other bus operators and the City Council. Our new buses represent part of the 134 electric buses across Leicester, making 50% of the city’s core commercial network now electric. So far, £60.5million has been invested in the Leicester Buses Partnership, of this, we have invested £7.7m, £22m came from The DfT which has funded 116 of the 134 buses through the ZEBRA programme. Alistair Hands, Managing Director (Regions), said “We are very proud of what we achieved but we know there is more to be done. It’s one thing to electrify a bus, but the benefits are truly realised when that bus is full of passengers, helping to reduce the number of cars on the road.”

A big moment for our team Arriva Nederland? We think so! They’re breaking down borders 🌍 with the launch of a new international rail service 🚉 – the 'Three-Country Train' – connecting Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany and marking the first time Arriva has had a presence in Belgium. The service is operated by crews from each of the three countries, with handovers taking place along the route. Our collaboration with Nederlandse Spoorwegen and NMBS Internationaal - SNCB International is making it easier for passengers to choose rail and take cars off the road. Our Managing Director David Brown recently spoke with Paul Clifton about the importance of unlocking the potential of open-access operators, which provide vital connectivity for people and businesses in areas of the country that would otherwise be underserved by the regular timetable. In the interview, David sets out four key areas that can be addressed now to empower open-access operators like Arriva’s Grand Central Rail to drive further innovation, value for money and growth: 1. Clarity on scoring criteria – There must be greater clarity on precisely what tests are being used to secure open access applications. Operators need to know the criteria their applications are being judged against, with clear guidance on the overriding priorities and objectives that will determine success.   2. Visibility of spare capacity – Greater transparency is needed from Network Rail, or its successor, over what capacity is available for use. It can often be incredibly challenging to see what paths are possible.   3. Speed of decision making – The decision-making process must be streamlined. We know from Grand Central’s own experience introducing a new stop at Peterborough that the current process is overly complex and leads to unnecessary delays, especially once the bid is submitted.    4. Length of access agreements – If an application is successful, the access agreement should be long enough to provide the level of certainty the operator needs to be able to properly invest in its fleet and its colleagues.  You can read more on David’s interview with RAIL Magazine's Rail Review here. https://lnkd.in/ei-b6UdW

We have just launched our first ever TV advert as part of a long-running marketing campaign! 🤩 ‘There’s a bus for that’ aims to encourage passengers who normally travel by car and other modes of transport to consider using the bus to get from A to B. The overall campaign is aimed at not just highlighting us, but at changing people’s behaviour and encouraging them to travel by bus – putting bus front of mind. Initial research insights showed that to deliver real behaviour change emotional engagement was key, which is why There’s a Bus for That focuses on how the journey will connect people with where they want to go and the loved ones they want to be with. The ad has launched across Merseyside, Luton and Milton Keynes as a pilot project and is being shown in cinemas and on-demand streaming services. We hope you love it as much as we do! 💙
