Thank you to everyone for joining us at Rosyth. It was great to have the opportunity to showcase the critical work we’re doing to deliver the new Type 31 frigates which will be at the heart of the Royal Navy’s surface fleet. Now more than ever, what we do matters: creating a safe and secure world, together.

📍 Babcock, Rosyth The next stop on our CEO Andy Start’s tour of industry sites was the Babcock International Group facilities in Rosyth. He was once again joined by Head of Combat Ships Delivery Group, Mark Beverstock, as well as Helga Kitney, Type 31 Project Team Leader. Through the Type 31 programme, five new general-purpose frigates will be designed and constructed in Scotland by Babcock to replace the Type 23 frigates as they come out of service. These ships will be crucial to the Royal Navy in deterring aggression and maintaining the security of the UK’s interests, alongside allies, across the globe. The programme supports around 2,500 UK jobs throughout the supply chain Andy said: 💬 “In an age of increasing threats, these vessels will be fundamental in delivering the edge to protect our nation and help it prosper. Seeing firsthand the impressive work that is being undertaken on HMS Venturer was a great pleasure, as was getting to meet the highly skilled individuals delivering this programme.”

This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Hawk, one of the world’s most successful advanced jet trainers. In a partnership with BAE Systems Air , we’ve been proudly supporting the Royal Air Force (RAF)’s fleet of 28 Hawk T2 jets at RAF Valley, Anglesey in North Wales for 20 years. As part of the contract, we also help maintain the RAF’s iconic Red Arrows display team, ensuring they are ready to ‘wow’ thousands of people across the globe with their spectacular aerobatic displays. Congratulations to everyone who has played a key role in reaching this significant milestone. 📷 UK MOD © Crown copyright 2024

Combining technical expertise with digitally enabled asset management, we deliver availability, capability and affordability, without compromise, every time. Through our commitment to work smarter, we find the right answers for our customers - using the right technology and harnessing it for the greatest impact. Working in partnership with Airbus Helicopters and Safran Helicopter Engines, we’ve supplied and modified six H160 helicopters for the French Navy for their search and rescue missions, becoming the first operator in the world to operate several of this latest generation helicopter. Our skilled engineers made 13 modifications to each aircraft, ensuring they are ready to perform critical search and rescue missions. The aircraft have already flown more than 1,750 hours and carried out numerous rescue missions in the Mediterranean and across the Normandy and Brittany coasts. As part of the 10-year contract we continue to provide through-life support for the aircraft, ensuring the highest level of availability so that the French Navy can accomplish its missions in complete safety. It isn’t every day that you come across a ship that has had a refit to become a laboratory, an operating theatre, a dental surgery, pharmacy and more. But that is exactly what Vine Trust's medical ship, MV Forth Hope, is. Seven years ago, MV Forth Hope was equipped and outfitted at Rosyth and left the site to provide vital medical care in Peru. Since then, more than 500,000 consultations have been provided to remote communities in the Amazon. It is a real honour for Babcock to be involved in such a worthwhile project and see the impact of our team’s work and support capability over the years. Our team worked really hard to transform MV Forth Hope and everyone involved in the project should be very proud of what they’ve achieved and how it has contributed to helping hundreds of thousands of people.

Today is Polish Armed Forces Day, a day to commemorate the anniversary of Poland’s victory at the Battle of Warsaw in 1920 and honour the bravery of the men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting the country. We’re committed to supporting the region – growing industrial, educational and community partnerships in Poland and transferring engineering knowledge to support the domestic build of frigates by a local workforce. If you want to hear more about our work in Poland and how we support armed forces worldwide, we’ll be at MSPO this year, so if you’re attending, come and visit us! #PolishArmedForcesDay #MSPO2024

Our vehicle agnostic 120mm Ground-based Deployable Mortar System (GDAMS), developed in partnership with ST Engineering, will be the first of its kind to be manufactured in the UK. To deliver accuracy under huge pressures, GDAMS demands an engineering solution of the highest quality which is why we are working with UK based Perfect Bore Manufacturing Ltd, subject matter experts in barrel design as our partner for 120MM barrel manufacture. By design, our work with them is supporting the re-establishment of barrel manufacture in the UK. Our long-standing experience with the British Army and integration expertise will ensure that we offer the optimum solution that the Army needs to strengthen UK Defence.
