We’re delighted to announce that Nicholas Crossfield has been appointed as CEO of our UK Construction Services business. Nick has over 40 years’ experience within the industrial and engineering industries and will be responsible for the strategic leadership of our UK Construction Services business, which delivers construction and civil engineering projects across a breadth of sectors including aviation, transportation, flood and coastal defence as well as energy. We're thrilled to share that Balfour Beatty has featured in the Wiltshire Times for our work in removing 13 pylons from the North Wessex Downs landscape. This project, part of National Grid’s Visual Impact Provision (VIP), will help restore the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in #Devizes. 🌿✨ https://lnkd.in/e7ZxYjs2

As the first steel structures are erected, we're delighted to see the progress being made in the construction of HMP Highland, Scotland's first net zero prison. ♻️ Scheduled for completion in 2026, the facility is designed to run off renewable energy sources such as ground source heat pumps, to align with the Scottish Government’s low carbon targets for the project. 🛠️ We will also utilise modular construction methods to preassemble the internal wall panels and perimeter walls offsite in a controlled factory environment, significantly reducing carbon emissions.

👷♀️ We hosted 32 women and minority-gender construction students from across Scotland recently to complete the Balfour Beatty Equate Scotland ConStructEd programme in partnership with ConStructEd Scotland. Through the programme, students developed their practical and employability skills through working as a team to build two working wind turbines and a bridge structure. ⚡ We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded a £192 million contract to construct three new substations in #Argyll, Scotland on behalf of SSEN Transmission ⚡ 👷♀️🤝 Uniting our power transmission + distribution experts with our deep regional knowledge and strong capabilities in Scotland, we will design and build three new 275kV substations in Craig Murrail, An Suidhe and Crarae - enhancing and strengthening the electrical transmission infrastructure to support the expected rise in renewable energy production in the region.
