It’s been one year since we started working with our alpha customers and contractors on their home renovations. We’ve spent that time learning about the renovation process and how to make homes more energy efficient. We started with simple measures and meticulously tracking the CO2 and water saved on every single project. The most impactful measures have been: 1. Avoiding landfill – we’ve guided all our contractors to Reston Waste recycling plant during demolition. Now 100% of waste on every single project is recycled. This doesn’t just reduce emissions but also saves £££. 2. Insulation – installing Wykamol ISO THERM - an ultra-thin specially woven polyester-based material for the internal sides of walls. It’s flexible, lightweight and designed to save energy and keep walls dry. 3. Installing Recoup waste water heat recovery units which recaptures more than 50% of heat that would otherwise be lost and takes less than one day to install. We’re still at the beginning of our journey and constantly thinking about how we can innovate and adopt new technologies (some exciting developments underway).
