BetBlocker is a UK registered charity, providing free blocking software to help people limit or manage their access to online gambling services. Our app is available on the iOS, Android, Windows, Apple, Linux and Fire OS operating systems, functions equally well at restricting both licensed and unregulated gambling operators, and offers a complete continuous restriction or the option to schedule when the restriction will switch on and off. BetBlocker is the most effective software available to help people block or manage their access to gambling sites and applications (yes, BetBlocker also blocks apps). With years of experience working with those experiencing problem gambling and a drive and a core belief that price walls between gambling addicts and help only ensure that the most vulnerable, those in greatest need of help, are the least likely to receive it, BetBlocker offers one of the best tools to help ensure that engagement with gambling is done in a responsible and safe manner. BetBlocker is used by thousands of people worldwide every day and has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times. We're encouraging all offline gambling operators (casinos, bookies, bingo halls, lottery terminals, poker rooms etc etc) and any other organisation that comes into contact with people that could need our help (charities, treatment providers, pubs, student unions, universities, schools, sports clubs and hundreds of other groups we haven't imagined) to get in contact and we'll supply the info cards and display stands. And we're not just offering these in English. If you need them in any language that BetBlocker is currently available in, we're happy to provide them.

Translating to Spanish has ensured that millions more people around the world can easily access the free and anonymous support that BetBlocker offers. While we’ve had the opportunity to meet many of our supporters at various conferences over the first 7 months of 2024, there have been a few where the stars just haven’t aligned. Worse still, since Brexit we’ve found sending anything into the EU from the UK to be unreliable at best. Missing and returned packages are the norm, so getting trophies to the right places/people has been challenging. Today I’d like to share a success story – we finally managed to get our trophy through to Coolbet. Coolbet has been one of our biggest supporters in 2023. It was the first year they donated and via their partnership we managed to deliver the Spanish translation of BetBlocker. Translating our service to Spanish has led to a 5.4x increase in Spanish language traffic visiting the BetBlocker website. By any reasonable measure of success, that has to be considered a huge win. And as we gain further traction in the Spanish languages markets, we have no doubt that increase will climb and climb, as we reach more people in need of the free, anonymous support that BetBlocker offers. Thank you Coolbet for your support last year and it’s great to see our award sitting on the desk in the Coolbet offices in Estonia.

One of the biggest challenges we face as a charity is brand awareness. This is a two-fold challenge. To make the people who need our support aware of the free service we provide, we need to make those people aware of what we provide. To reach those people, we need the help of the industry. Operators are the front line, interacting with people that need our support on a daily basis. So for us brand awareness in the sector is absolutely critical! But as a charity we also run on a tight budget, trying to deliver an outsized level of support to tens of thousands of people on a small budget. We cannot afford media spend. When major sector media organisations, like those mentioned above, cover news and updates about BetBlocker, they are supporting our project. They are helping us achieve our goals. It may not be in the same way as an operator who donates to us, but it is no less valuable to us. So thank you to all of the media outlets that covered BetBlocker receiving an NCPG award. You have made a real and substantial difference to our project and we very much appreciate it.
