With the Prime Minister announcing an early UK general election in July, we're excited to highlight social impact investment as a vital tool for the future Government to address a range of social issues, from NHS waiting lists to youth unemployment. We will continue working with key decision-makers at the heart of Government to focus on the following priorities: 🌱 Spend smarter – allocate existing spend to projects that crowd in more social and private investment 💪 Put people at the heart of public services – shift to commissioning for outcomes so that the Government only pays for genuine positive and measurable change to people’s lives ✨ Integrate social impact investment across government – given its vital role in tackling complex issues, we hope to set up a cross-government strategy driven by a central team in the Cabinet Office or Treasury. We're delighted to see the Community Investment Enterprise Fund (CIEF) nominated as a Social Investment Pioneer at the SE100 Social Business Awards 🏆 We established CIEF in 2015 in collaboration with Social Investment Scotland to provide essential capital to Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs), which, in turn, support small businesses unable to access mainstream finance. 💡 Earlier this year, we launched the second phase of the fund with investment from Lloyds Banking Group, the first mainstream lender to help CDFIs access wholesale funding at scale. 🚀 The fund is set to invest £62 million into three CDFIs – BCRS Business Loans, Business Enterprise Fund (BEF), and Finance For Enterprise – with an expected impact on 800 small businesses and 10,500 jobs. Thank you to NatWest Social & Community Capital and Pioneers Post for recognising this innovative deal with their nomination. We look forward to the winner's announcement at the awards ceremony on 16 July. #SocialInvestment #InvestforImpact

This Community Energy Fortnight, we're highlighting how social impact investment is empowering communities across the UK to take charge of their energy future 🌱 Hear from our Investment Director, Joe Shamash, as he explains why community energy has been one of the most effective ways of supporting the transition to net-zero emissions. Community energy schemes generate 12 times the local economic value of commercial energy, yet the sector contributes only 0.5% of the UK’s total electricity. 💡With the right capital investment, community energy has the potential to grow twentyfold in the coming decade. Watch the full video as Joe shares the impact of our work in financing close to half of the country's community energy sector to date. 🔍 Find out more about our approach to the Just Transition: https://lnkd.in/g_QuJgVU Community Energy London #EmpowerCommunityEnergy #SocialInvestment

💡James Burrows, our Managing Director, explores the connection between climate and social issues in this discussion with Tom Dinneweth for Impact Europe, highlighting how environmental initiatives can often enhance social outcomes. In the UK, for instance, we are investing in organisations that own older buildings and are lacking in terms of energy resilience. These buildings are typically occupied by underserved communities, meaning that the right financing solutions can improve both the environmental sustainability of the area and the living conditions for these families. 🌱 To know more, read the full interview, 'Is Climate a Social Issue?' here: https://lnkd.in/gTKJN8eH #SocialImpact #ClimateAction #SustainableFuture
