We're delighted to see the Community Investment Enterprise Fund (CIEF) nominated as a Social Investment Pioneer at the SE100 Social Business Awards 🏆 We established CIEF in 2015 in collaboration with Social Investment Scotland to provide essential capital to Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs), which, in turn, support small businesses unable to access mainstream finance. 💡 Earlier this year, we launched the second phase of the fund with investment from Lloyds Banking Group, the first mainstream lender to help CDFIs access wholesale funding at scale. 🚀 The fund is set to invest £62 million into three CDFIs – BCRS Business Loans, Business Enterprise Fund (BEF), and Finance For Enterprise – with an expected impact on 800 small businesses and 10,500 jobs. Thank you to NatWest Social & Community Capital and Pioneers Post for recognising this innovative deal with their nomination. Today we launch the third impact report for the Schroder BSC Social Impact Trust which aims to provide investors with sustainable financial returns and access to a diversified portfolio of high-impact investments addressing social issues in the UK, including homelessness, fuel poverty, inequality, health and social care. So far, the Trust has committed £87m to 194 social organisations, reaching more than 400,000 people. This report sets out the social impact being achieved through a unique partnership between investors and frontline organisations. It also shares the Trust’s methods for impact investing, what the team are learning, and their aspirations for enhancing impact over the coming year.
