We now have a defibrillator located at Biddenden Vineyards 👏 Defibrillators are intended to give people a better chance of helping to save someone who is in cardiac arrest, by providing a high energy electric charge to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat. When someone goes into cardiac arrest, and you have close access to a defibrillator - you really do have the potential to save a life so we’re pleased to have fitted one on our estate, which is available for use for both our visitors and the local community. Thank you to Ken from Hopkins Training and Support for our training last week and assistance in installing the defibrillator at Biddenden.

About us
Biddenden Vineyards, Kent’s original commercial vineyard, prides itself on being a family run vineyard with the second and third generation of the Barnes family managing the estate. Originally home to a 40 acre apple orchard, the Barnes family started to consider diversifying the farm in the late 1960s. After listing to a radio feature on English vineyards being replanted, Mrs. Barnes was inspired to turn to viticulture. In 1969, one third of an acre of vines was planted and Biddenden Vineyards was born. Today the single estate vineyard spans 23 acres of gentle south facing slopes situated in a sheltered valley, just outside the picturesque Wealden village of Biddenden. 11 different grape varieties are grown here to produce its array of award winning White, Rosé, Red and Sparkling English wines. The knowledge which the family has built up through experience over the years can be seen in the quality and consistency of the wines produced year on year. Biddenden also produces an array of award-winner ciders and juices. Crafted using the Barnes’ family recipe, which has been perfected over the last 40 years, all Biddenden’s ciders are made from the juice of carefully selected culinary and dessert apples. This gives its cider a more wine like style than those found in the West Country produced from bittersweet apples. Biddenden’s much loved, classic, farm-pressed apple and pear juices are naturally full of sweetness and with no added sugar. Working closely with local farmers Biddenden ensures all its apples and pears are sourced right from the Garden of England. Biddenden Vineyards is open to the public throughout the year, with free admission and tastings. For those just passing, there is a self-guided tour route around the vines for you to take a stroll at your leisure. For a more in-depth experience and to learn more about the history of the vineyard, the wine and the cider making process visitors can pre-book group and private guided tours.

In this role, you will be one of the faces of our business and we are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, enthusiastic and presentable person to deliver to a multitude of our customers and venues, ranging from local tap rooms to 5-star hotels in London! Our delivery routes cover Kent, Sussex, Surrey & London with occasional ad hoc longer journeys. Knowledge of the area is essential as well as experience of multi-drop deliveries. The role will involve some heavy lifting, so we require a physically capable, self-motivated person. This is a full-time position and applicants must be over 21 with a clean driving license. All aboard Winston’s Wine Train! On Friday we enjoyed a very special evening of wine tasting with Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. This brand new event included a beautiful steam train ride from New Romney to Dungeness, a talk about the history of the railway, and a specialist session of wine tasting with the Biddenden team, enjoyed alongside some delicious sharing platters. We had a fantastic time, and it was lovely to meet everyone, we hope to be back soon! 🚂

Proud to support Kent Young Farmers' Clubs! Here at Biddenden we have a long-standing connection with local farming communities and agricultural groups - one of which being the Kent Young Farmers. Kent YFC is part of the The National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs, which is one of the largest rural youth organisations in the UK - and we were pleased to support them at last weekend’s Kent County Show with refreshments and gifts for the judges and stewards and t-shirts for the committee, including the two youngest members! Set up to connect young people who have an interest in the countryside, animals and outdoor pursuits, we also regularly welcome the club to our vineyard to learn more about how we grow, harvest and produce our range of wines, ciders and juices, although Moonlight the cow hasn’t yet paid us a visit 🥂 Kent County Agricultural Society

Recap from a busy Kent County Show 👏 What a weekend we had and, despite the weather, it was wonderful as always to see so many friends of Biddenden, including Kent Young Farmers well as meeting lots of new faces at our main stand and in the Produced in Kent area. Serving hot Monks Delight in July is not something we’re used to but it went down a treat, as did our new Biddies Strawberry and Mint. With lots of events to go this summer we hope to see you at our Biddenden Bar this season 🥂 Kent County Agricultural Society
