On this #WorldHypertensionDay, I celebrate the work of #Pharmacy teams in hypertension case finding and commitment to support the #NHSLongerm Plan through #cvdprevention. Earlier this week, NHS England and the British and Irish Hypertension Society delivered a training to support pharmacy teams with the service. The feedback was very positive, with learning on both sides (Trainees and trainers). Thanks to all who made the event a success. Remember that raised blood pressure may not seem apparent but if left undetected can have devastating consequences. Get your blood pressure checked today at a pharmacy near you. Also, remember the importance of exercise, a healthy diet, enough rest/sleep, and other lifestyle measures (e.g say 'no' to alcohol/smoking) to prevent Hypertension. If you're already diagnosed, remember to take your medicines as prescribed, and stay within your target BP range. The risks can be higher for those from African, Bangladeshi Caribbean, Indian or Pakistani heritage; or those with a family history or co - morbidities- get checked today in a pharmacy near you!
