As part of our continued efforts to promote the sport of bowls, Bowls Scotland will be attending Active Life Club's 25th Anniversary Event - 25 Years of Active Life Club. This flagship event celebrates sport, community, culture, and youth. Based in Glasgow, Active Life are at the heart of the community delivering a range of activities aimed at addressing the inequalities faced by young people, working towards developing leadership skills, employability skills and improving their physical, mental, and social wellbeing. Holly and Roz will be in attendance, representing Bowls Scotland and delivering a Try Bowls session to engage with young people and be a part of this fantastic community event. About us
Bowls Scotland is the national governing body for the sport of lawn bowls in Scotland. As the third largest national governing body of sport in Scotland, Bowls Scotland was formed in 2010 after the Scottish Bowling Association and the Scottish Women's Bowling Association voted to unify. Our vision: to be Scotland's local sport of choice; modern, successful and accessible to all. Bowls Scotland currently has 834 member clubs and nearly 50,000 members. In order to achieve our vision, we have a dedicated organisation made up of a board, volunteers and staff who work to not only deliver our sport to our current members but also actively promote our sport and encourage more people to get involved. The Team Scotland lawn bowlers at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games brought home gold and provided an excellent platform for us to build upon. As a result, we have launched our #TryBowls campaign which aims to get more people to try bowls at their local bowling club. Lawn bowls is a sport that can be played by anyone, no matter their age, ability or sporting background. It is a sport for life that not only provides physical and mental health benefits but also provides a warm and welcoming social community for all to join. We are forming partnerships with sponsors, commercial partners and government agencies to ensure that we maximise support for our clubs and volunteers as they bid to promote bowls throughout Scotland.

RECRUITMENT || COMPETITIONS & EVENTS YOUTH WORKING GROUP We are committed to ensuring young people’s voices are heard in relation to the development and progression of our wonderful game. At the recent Bowls Scotland question and answer sessions, feedback from members highlighted a need for a more structured and formalised platform for young people to share their thoughts and ideas. With this in mind, we are establishing a Youth Competitions and Events Working Group in 2024. As we look to review the youth competitions and events, we are seeking members of the bowling community, to influence, develop and lead this project. 🙌🏻 As part of #VolunteerWeek the Bowls Scotland staff team visited our charity partners, Erskine Veterans Charity, yesterday to lend a hand around their Veterans Village. There was lots to do in preparation for today’s D-Day 80th anniversary; from tidying their stores room, planting flowers, de-weeding gardens, erecting marquees and building a landing craft. It was brilliant to give back to the community and our staff thoroughly enjoyed their day. A huge thank you to Erskine for having us along! 💜 Volunteer Scotland sportscotland
