This stunning young buzzard arrived in our care a couple of days ago. 🦅 🤎 🏨 She was found out of the nest with no sign of parents, so it was decided to bring her into our care for rehabilitation following a veterinary assessment. 🐤 The team are feeding her every couple of hours and appears to be eating very well. She still has a long road ahead, but the team are doing all they can to support her. 🙏 We will do our best to update you as often as we can without disturbing her recovery.

These 2 young moorhen chicks are currently in our care. 🖤 🖤🦩💧 They arrived with us a couple of weeks ago after their nest was disturbed, and no parents returned. The team are pleased with their progress so far. The chicks are eating well and making lots of mess as they dip in their water bowl with their clumsy big feet and long legs. 🏨💧During these first few weeks, they will remain inside the hospital until they are more self-sufficient. At this point, they will then move to one of our outside water pool enclosures where they can swim and splash in our pools to prepare for their release. 🦤🖤 Soon, their fluffy baby feathers will turn into dusky black plumage, and the distinct colour markings will stand out.

We recently had help from several volunteering groups from local businesses. 🤩 🐾🦔 They gave up their time to help clean and feed the patients and prepare newspaper and general maintenance around the site. 🙏 We are so grateful to InterBay Asset Finance who volunteered a total of 3 days with 24 eager employees. 🙏 Our thanks also to The Niche Partnership, who volunteered for a day with 8 volunteers. They will also be back again later in the year. 🤎🦊 The support of these groups frees up our team to undergo other essential tasks and is a great way to build partnerships with local businesses. #corporatevolunteering #westsussexbusiness #animalcharities #ukcharity #volunteering #WildlifeRescue

What would you call a pile of tawny owls? We have a few young tawny’s in our care at the moment. 🤎 🦉🦉🦉🦉These 4 are currently in our hospital, with a couple already in an outside enclosure. 🤎🪶 They stay huddled together and start to become more active when it's feed time. The last photo is a very grumpy looking owlet who didn't want to be disturbed. 🤩 They are starting to give the team some attitude, so soon they will be assessed to determine if they are ready to move outside to continue their rehabilitation. If you are looking for sponsorship opportunities for a worthy cause then please get in contact we have lots to discuss 😊 . . . . . . . #owlsofinstagram #wildanimals #animalhospital #ukwildlife #animalsareawesome #birdsofprey #animalcharity ##tawnyowls #owlet

Continuing #HedgehogAwarenessWeek, here are 5 top tips for helping hedgehogs in your garden. 🦔🦔 1️⃣ 💚 Check long grass before mowing or strimming. Taking a few minutes to check could save a life. 2️⃣ 🟫 Create a 13cm hole in your #garden fence to enable hedgehogs to roam freely between gardens. 3️⃣💧Build a small ramp in your pond so #hedgehogs and other wildlife can climb out if they fall in. 4️⃣ 🍛 Leave out supplementary fresh cat food for when natural food is scarce. No fish, milk or bread. 5️⃣ 🌼 Create a #wildgarden to encourage hedgehogs to forage for natural food sources. 🔗 Read our Hedgehog Awareness Week blog. https://lnkd.in/eVv5i-BH 🦔🐾 Let us know what you have done to help hedgehogs in your garden.

How many hungry baby birds ⁉️ 🤔 🐣🐤 These tiny starling chicks, from 2 different nests, were admitted after they were removed from their nest by roofing contractors. Thank you to the kind people for rescuing and bringing them to us. 🏥🪱 When they arrived to us at Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital, they were all very cold and lethargic. We immediately warmed them and started hand feeding them. They were also joined by a young blackbird. These needy babies require feeding every 15-20 mins in the first few days, a busy time for our team. 🪺 Despite it being prohibited to cut hedges during breeding seasons and remove bird nests, we continue to see baby birds disturbed and discarded, resulting in abandonment by their frightened mums. 🙏‼️ Please be mindful if you are doing gardening work. Take a few minutes to check before you start. You could be saving a life. ✅️ 🤞Thankfully, they all seem to be doing well now, though. Fingers crossed, we manage to pull them all through!
