The BBRO is a a not for profit making company, funded jointly by British Sugar plc and the National Farmers' Union. We aim to provide sugar beet growers and wider industry with the resources required to grow a healthy and profitable sugar beet crop in the UK.

Cercospora Risk Forecast (produced by WeatherQuest Ltd) and our own in-field monitoring network underway. We are in the early stages of spore monitoring but hope that layering, potential risk, with known spores and then disease development will allow us to create a really powerful prediction tool for sugar beet growers.

BBRO Cercospora Risk Forecast is now live on our website https://lnkd.in/gNr5kcbY. Some spores have been detected in the air and although we are not seeing humidity levels reach high risk, we are aware of some low levels of disease development in crop.

Thank you British Beet Research Organisation (BBRO) for sponsoring the Innovation Hub at Royal Norfolk Show this year, showcasing advancements in seed breeding and presenting alternatives to neonicotinoid seed treatments. Read a snapshot of what have been discussed, and reach out to us if you'd like to connect and learn more: 👨🔬 Eurofins Genomics engaged with farmers and breeders to offer solutions for staying ahead of competition from plant genomics services and soil testing to solutions for livestock genomics evaluation. 🐏 3CR Bioscience showcased PACE genotyping technology which identifies lethal variants in the breeding population, to improve animal health, welfare and lamb viability. 🐦 Greenstalk. Technology from the ground up unveiled their new invention Smart scarer and demonstrated how they can make existing agricultural machinery smarter, enabling farmers to manage their operations more efficiently, monitor crop health in real-time, and make data-driven decisions. 💡 With the UK's highest graduate employment rate of 99.2%, students from Harper Adams University presented a range of new courses and programmes from #Robotics and #Engineering to #Datascience and #Agriculture along with their globally-connected projects. 🏚 Broads Authority presented FibreBroads - a new partnership project exploring the potential challenges in growing crops on wetted peat soils and turning them into sustainable products to be used in the construction and clothing industries. 🛍 Ponda Bio discussed partnering with farmers and conservation groups to regenerate wetlands by cultivating Typha Latifolia, a native, shallow-water, rhizomatous perennial plant to produce textiles. ⚡ Earth Rover demonstrated CLAWS, a robot that kills weeds by concentrating beams of lights directly onto the growing points without damaging crops or disturbing the soil.
