Have you heard about our Brompton Bike Hire scheme? For just £5 a day you cam hire a Brompton folding bike for 24 hours use and we’re delighted to announce the opening of 5 new Brompton Bike Hire locations across Scotland. This takes us up to 9 Scottish locations from Edinburgh to Glasgow, Inverness to Stornoway and Elgin to Oban.   First, are two new locations within Glasgow Caledonian University and Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University. Partnerships with Universities are particularly exciting for us, as we help to make cycling as accessible as possible for younger generations. Big thanks go out to Sustrans and SEStran (South East of Scotland Transport Partnership) for their support with this venture.   Our partnership with Sheriffhall Park and Ride in Edinburgh is another example of Brompton’s multi-modal prowess. Being considered as a ‘final mile’ solution is built into our DNA and this is a partnership that will demonstrate and provide a reasonably priced bike rental option for those travelling into the Scottish Capital. Thanks again to SEStran (South East of Scotland Transport Partnership) and Midlothian Council for their support here/   Partnering with hotel brands is a fantastic way of offering guests a sustainable and fun way of experiencing a destination. We're pleased to say that guests at Dunbar Royal Macintosh Hotel now see an even better way to enjoy the East coast of Scotland, or have the option of travelling by rail to Edinburgh. Again this is with thanks to East Lothian Council   And last but by no means least is Prestonpans Library. Libraries serve the community in more ways than we realise and this partnership enables reliable access to this facility in a cost-effective way. The public can now rent, ride and read and not worry about locking their bike outside. Smiling colleagues arriving at the Brompton Factory this morning as part of #CycleToWorkDay. As a business we try our best to support riding to work by offering plenty of indoor cycle parking, free breakfast, fruit and shower facilities. Some of us ride a long way, others live locally or most use a combination of their folding bike and public transport. Together as a team, we reduce our carbon footprint and save space on the roads for those that really need it. Come and join the movement. 

A gold-plated Brompton? You’d better believe it. In support and celebration of Team GB's athletes heading to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, we’ve worked with British jeweller Mappin & Webb. to Gold-Plate nearly every single piece* of two classic Brompton C Line bikes before they were carefully assembled by our in-house specials team. A masterpiece of craftsmanship on two wheels - the Brompton x Mappin & Webb Gold bike. Undertaking 65 hours of hand polishing, this 23,9ct gold bike features hand engraved Team GB logos and is a “true testament to the dedication and expertise of Mappin & Webb’s in-house silver workshop team and the specialists at Brompton.” Whilst our regular bikes will move Team GB athletes around Paris throughout the Olympic Games, the two bikes will go on display at Team GB house in Paris and the Team GB Fan Zone in Kings Cross. Make sure you get a glimpse of them whilst you can as following the event, the bikes will be auctioned off for the British Olympic Foundation and other charities. At Brompton, we’re passionate about breaking down the barriers to cycling and making it accessible for everyone so we were excited to see some new faces entering the transport world over the past few weeks. The new Local Transport Minister in the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, Simon Lightwood came to our factory last year and we gave him a firsthand look at how our iconic folding bikes are made - he even tried his hand at the brazing process. Congratulations to Simon on his appointment as the new Local Transport Minister in the Department for Transport. In addition, we wanted to congratulate Lilian Greenwood on her appointment as Future of Roads Minister at the Department for Transport. As an avid cyclist who understands the challenges and opportunities of cycling, we’re sure that she will bring valuable insight into her role and the wider DfT ministerial team. Cycling plays a crucial role in decarbonising transport, connecting communities, and boosting public health. We’re incredibly thankful for Lilian’s long-standing support of the cycling community and we look forward to continuing our work with her and Simon to build a greener, more sustainable transport system as well as a bike-friendly future for all.

🏆🚲 Award-winning collaboration: Brompton and DB folding bike subscription wins Eurobike Award 🏆 Big news from Eurobike Frankfurt 2024! We are delighted to announce that the Folding Bike Subscription, a joint initiative between Deutsche Bahn and Brompton, has won the prestigious Eurobike Award in the Concepts, Mobility Solutions and Infrastructure category. This innovative subscription service enables commuters to rent a high-quality folding bike for just 41 euros a month and use it free of charge throughout Germany's bus and rail network. Launched in June 2023, the folding bike subscription promotes the seamless integration of cycling and public transport, especially for the last mile to and from the station, without the hassle of searching for a parking space. The positive response has prompted Deutsche Bahn and Brompton to extend the service until 2024/2025.
