How are you getting ready for the Torchrunner Globe Challenge? 🌍 Here are a few tips to help you prepare 👇 1️⃣ Set Your Goals: After making your pledge, decide how you want to break it down and determine how many kilometres you’ll aim to complete each day. 2️⃣Get the Right Gear: Make sure you have comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and any other gear you might need for running, walking, riding, or swimming. 3️⃣Track Your Kilometres: If you haven’t already, register for our tracking system to ensure your kilometres count towards our goal. 4️⃣Plan Your Routes: Map out safe and enjoyable routes for your activities. 5️⃣ Stay Hydrated and Fuelled: Keep your body energised with plenty of water and healthy snacks. 6️⃣ Warm Up and Cool Down: Start each session with a warm-up and finish with a cool-down to prevent injury and keep your muscles happy. 7️⃣ Get Social: Tell your friends, family, or colleagues about your challenge and ask them to sponsor your efforts. 8️⃣Follow Us for Updates: Follow our socials for progress updates, fundraising stories, and tips throughout the challenge. Mentoring provides guidance, builds confidence, and offers a supportive presence that can change a young person's life forever ❤️ But the benefits of mentoring go both ways. Meet Andy Stone! Next week, he’ll be attempting to swimming across the English Channel—a 20-mile challenge expected to take 12-20 hours, depending on conditions 🏊 He’s doing this as part of the Torchrunner Globe Challenge, helping us travel 38,000 km in 38 days to raise £38,000 for young people’s mentoring services 🙌 Andy chose to fundraise for us because he’s passionate about the power of mentoring and the positive impact it can have on young people. As a mentor in an alternative education centre, he’s seen how sharing personal experiences can build trust and make a real difference in young people’s lives. Caroline and Kim had a fantastic time at Herts Pride on Saturday! The event was brilliant, with an amazing atmosphere that had everyone enjoying themselves 🏳️🌈 They had the chance to speak with many wonderful people who were not only excited to learn about Caudwell Youth but also eager to help spread the word. They even met some potential new volunteers! 🙌 And, to top it all off, our stall looked incredible! YSC Wendy took their young person for an exciting day of go-karting, and it was a thrilling adventure! 🏎️ They both had an amazing time, and it’s moments like these that help build trust, boost confidence, and create lasting memories for our young people. On top of that, our young person has been gaining valuable experience working at a children’s summer camp. We’re so proud of her determination and everything she’s accomplished this summer! ❤️ #CaudwellYouth #SupportingYoungPeople

Amelia’s Story Amelia, 12, was referred to us because she had trouble managing her anger, which was affecting her relationships at home and school. She often argued with friends and family, talked back to teachers, and sometimes got into physical fights. Since starting with Caudwell Youth, Amelia has been learning to take responsibility for her actions and think about different ways to handle conflicts. She’s opening up to new perspectives and trying to adopt a more positive outlook. With her mentor’s help, Amelia has been tracking her anger each week and has noticed a real decrease. Her family has also seen less arguing and fewer conflicts at home. Amelia has been working on staying organised, which has helped her avoid trouble at school. To celebrate her progress, Amelia and her mentor enjoyed a fun pottery painting session. Now, Amelia wants to focus on being a supportive sister. She’s noticed some things that worry her about her siblings and wants to help them through these challenges. Together with her mentor, she’s working on having sensitive conversations and providing support during tough times. Amelia has made incredible strides and connected well with her mentor in a short time! We’re so proud of her ❤️ #CaudwellYouth #SupportingYoungPeople #Mentoring

At Caudwell Youth, we’re committed to supporting young people with a wide range of needs, including those at risk of exploitation. We're proud to say that 93% of the young people who were at risk of exploitation when they were first referred, have significantly lowered their risk since working with us 🙌 Our staff and mentors work closely with each young person, providing the emotional and practical support needed to help them break free from the cycle of exploitation. To keep making this positive impact and support 10 young people for a full year, we’ve launched The Torchrunner Globe Challenge! 🌍 Starting on 9th September 2024 and running until 17th October 2024, we’ll be attempting to collectively travel 38,000 km in 38 days to raise £38,000 for our young people mentoring services.
