🤖🧠"There are a lot of articles and talks circulating within the UX design community about how AI will take our jobs...I’ve realised that in actual fact it’s the other way around: the success of AI is absolutely dependent on good UX. Specifically, good content design" Helen Gaskell writes on why we won’t be able to fully trust AI until we fix the information we feed it. Do you agree? Do you know about CYB's point of donation software platform Give A Little? It helps charities make the transition to cashless fundraising and is used by the likes of Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Oxfam and The Church of England. Give A Little's Product Manager James Alden has written about how it all works, and how adopting lean methods lead to a 50% increase in donation value on the platform last year. When building the UK Government's first public-facing Large Language Model service for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, we had a major decision to make - which LLM should we use? We had three main considerations: 1️⃣ Performance 2️⃣ Data Security 3️⃣ Cost So what did we do? Our Head of Engineering Ali Salaman explains all ⬇

🚨 New service announcement 🚨 We are delighted to say that we have successfully launched a brand new UK Government service for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office The new Prove Your Eligibility service makes it easier and quicker for British nationals to get the documentation they need to get married or register a civil partnership abroad. Initially launched in 21 countries, the rollout will continue across the world. The service can be replicated and simultaneously adopted to each country's specific requirements. CYB's Founder/Managing Director Ben Stewart says: "We sometimes see a headline such as this and think nothing much of it. But hidden underneath this is a world of complexity due to the wide variation in policy and requirements of overseas governments. This outcome is testimony to the tenacity, skills, and professionalism of the team". Read full details here: https://lnkd.in/epraUTgb

Senior product manager and designer building government digital services | Generalist | MPA in Innovations Policy | 3 x Venture founder | Startup advisor & investor 🏳️🌈
Had a great time attending my first AI in Government meet up last night hosted by Caution Your Blast Ltd Kuba Bartwicki, the lead designer at Government Digital Service shared his views on how design as a discipline and practice has changed and will continue to evolve due to AI, a “product design renaissance” if you will. He stressed the critical role of design in building trust with consumers and shared tactical examples. Absolutely adored Truly Capell for sharing her experience researching into the use of LLMs to improve the triaging of queries into the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Wonderfully detailed insights on what she learned, why their team made the decisions they made, and presented some interesting learnings about the perception of AI. Trust is a recurring theme. While most users already “expect AI everywhere”, they don’t trust it, with underrepresented groups more concerned and worried about it. Ali Salaman dove into the details around how to choose the right LLM, outlining the pros and cons of open-source v. third party models, how prompts could be parsed and designed to minimise the number of requests made in order to reduce cost. The devils is in the details. These learnings are especially helpful to those of us in government working to implement new technologies such as AI where there are no playbooks, and often lack capacity and knowledge. No hypes, no one is trying to sell anything or anyone, it felt honest, everyone’s just there to learn. Keep an eye out on the next one in ~ 3 months and join me!
