What size of company should I target based on the cost of my rights?     Our analysis of sponsorship deal values points rights holders to the size of company you should be targeting 💰 🎯 A general rule of thumb in the industry is that the cost of a sponsorship is that it represents around 1% of the sponsor's revenue. So if the rights costs $1m, you target companies with a minimum of $100m revenue But how does this play out in practice? Across four major international sporting events, we found the figure to be 0.14%. Meaning if your rights cost $1m, companies need an annual revenue of at least $700m. There are of course outliers, like TeamViewer x Manchester United with a $60m deal at just $525m revenue, an 11.5% ratio ⚽ 👕 However, less than 7% of deals in our analysis had a ratio over 1.5% So 0.5% is a pretty good rule of thumb rather than 1% (targeting $200m revenue for $1m rights), as the average ratio was 0.56% across the deals we analysed ..although we’d be inclined to lean towards an larger revenue figure, as the median ratio came out at just 0.04%! How have The Premier League club sponsors changed over the last two years? 📈 Travel and Tourism has seen the biggest increase in number of deals, driven by Airlines, Hotels & Tourist Boards looking to tap into the global fanbase and international travel element of club fixtures and tours ✈ 🏨 Tourist Board activity has been led by US players such as Visit Las Vegas, Visit Tampa Bay and Experience Kissimmee – reflecting the increasing ties between the Premier League and the US 🌴 🌎 🔝 Food & Beverage and Financial Services remain the most dominant categories despite seeing the biggest decreases in deal numbers 🥤 💱 📉 Financial Services’ drop is mainly down to Investment/Trading, which had the biggest drop of any subcategory due to eToro stepping back 💸 ⬆ However, this drop has partially been offset by Banks and Crypto/Blockchain being among the fastest-growing subcategories 🏦 💻 You can find caytoo's data and further analysis from SportsPro in their Premier League Business Report 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQddVt8z
