About us

Once upon a shirt, Nicholas Charles Tyrwhitt Wheeler (whilst studying Geography at Bristol University – we might add) had the notion that he could make a better shirt at better value than anyone else in the world! He believed that all men; no matter their shape or size, where they may be in the world or indeed their budget; should be able to own a Jermyn Street quality shirt. A proper shirt. A CT shirt. That was over 3 decades ago and whilst Charles Tyrwhitt (it rhymes with spirit by the way) is still famous for proper shirts, these days we are about so much more than collars and cuffs. Our purpose is to “make it easy for men to dress well”. We take care of a chap’s entire wardrobe, providing stylish solutions for every occasion. We make sure he gets what he wants, when and how he wants it. Our spiritual home and flagship store is located on London’s famous Jermyn Street. Our Global Head Office is in London Bridge, whilst we also have an office in Manhattan to support our retail and online presence across North America, Europe and Australia. Not forgetting our Distribution Centre and Contact Centre in Milton Keynes. At Charles Tyrwhitt we believe in doing the right thing. That means making our products properly and sustainably, making our business work for our people, our customers, and our suppliers and giving back to charity to support those in need. We’re taking a good hard look at our social and environmental impact, and always looking for ways to be better. When it comes to our people, we really do “Give a shirt”. Tyrwhitteers (our people) are a diverse, passionate and entrepreneurial bunch. We enjoy a fun, engaging and rewarding culture, where everyone is empowered by our 3 BE-liefs which are; “BE the BOSS”, “BE the CUSTOMER” and “BE the BEST”.

You may wonder why a little bird appears on some of our products. Not just any old bird, but a Lapwing – and without it, we wouldn’t be Charles Tyrwhitt. The lapwing used to be widespread throughout Britain, but with more space dedicated to farming comes less space for the lapwing's ground nests. Sadly this special bird now finds itself on the RSPB red-list and needs our help! We’re proud to have teamed up with Nature Broking and farmer Rob Wainwright (ex Scotland captain and British Lion) to support a farming-for-nature project on the Isle of Coll. Rob is helping promote the plight of the lapwing, working closely with local wildlife experts to increase their population through innovative farming practices. Earlier this year we visited Rob on Coll to find out more about what he’s doing to help protect this beautiful bird. Today is #InternationalYouthDay, a day dedicated to celebrating the vital role of young people in society, acknowledging their potential, their achievements and the role they will play in building a brighter future. It also serves as a reminder of the challenges youth face globally, such as educational barriers, limited access to healthcare, and economic instability. Here at Charles Tyrwhitt we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to succeed, no matter their background or the challenges they are facing. That's why for the last seven years we have been proud patrons of The Prince's Trust, supporting their work to help young people develop the essential skills and confidence they need to get ready for work and access job opportunities. This International Youth Day we’re prouder than ever to support this remarkable charity and we celebrate all of the incredible young people we have had the pleasure of helping along the way. Following on from our post last week announcing another record breaking year, it's important we invest in our operation to ensure it is fit for purpose and can keep up with the increased sales as the business continues to grow. We're absolutely delighted to say we've just finished installing our new mezzanine floor project at our Distribution Centre in Milton Keynes. This huge £1.5m project has increased our stock capacity by 20% and will ensure we're able to stay in the local area for the foreseeable future. Here's a snapshot of the new area to give you an idea of the operation! #investment #project #distributioncentre #growth

Last week, we had our annual Summer Party and this year we certainly had something to celebrate... Luke Kingsnorth was on the mic and he took us through a reflection of the last few years and what we've achieved. We've gone from strength to strength since the pandemic, breaking record after record, and this year we have gone through the £300 million turnover for the first time in our history! We're incredibly proud of the journey we've been on and how far we've come. From Nick's university bedroom to the global brand we are today. But we're not stopping there... We then took the time to look forward and align on our strategy for the next 3 years and how we will continue to grow as a business. Let's just say it's an incredibly exciting future at CT... To round off the afternoon and kick start the evening, we headed to Boulebar for a competitive game of Petanque and a few (fair few) drinks! What a great day celebrating all of our hard work and achievements! Here's to breaking more records next year! #RecordYear #SummerParty #StrategyPlan
