With cheqd Studio, there are multiple ways it can be deployed and hosted to support clients with different requirements. #SSI #DID Option 1: Custodied by cheqd (Custodian Mode) This mode is the most simple for users, allowing cheqd to custody both #Cosmos AND Identity keys in Veramo KMS. This means that manages both ledger-writes and signing identity transactions on behalf of the customer. We use similar techniques to Password Managers such as 1Password and Bitwarden to ensure that the keys would remain encrypted and unusable. Option 2: Self-custodied (Client-managed mode) Client-managed mode gives the cheqd Studio user the ability to utilise their own identity keys for signing #identity transactions, while still allowing cheqd Studio to manage the CHEQ account keys for writing to the cheqd network. This mode is intended to be used for more production environments where the user signs each identity transaction independently, affording a greater level of security and control to the client. If you find decentralised identifiers #DID hard to grasp, we have put together a simple explanation using an analogy of a car and its licence plate. James Bond's Aston Martin has a unique identifier, the licence plate, identifying the owner of the car and also the features of the car. Similarly, a DID is a unique identifier, identifying the DID subject (a person, company or thing), and providing information about the DID subject. Both identifiers can be checked against a registry in order to provide verifiable information about the thing that the identifier is identifying. The process for withdrawing the information from the DID is very similar to the licence plate number: through resolving a DID to get information about the DID Document. There is an increasing societal demand for consumers to be able to properly trace and verify the components, ingredients, and processes used for their purchased products. In principle, it should be possible to offer product owners the chance to trace back the supply chain steps their product and its components have undergone. However, in practice, this is challenging because it requires all companies involved in a product’s #supplychain to collaborate to reveal information about a specific product to its owner. To address this problem, a framework is introduced based on the cheqd blockchain network. Learn how to set up your account on cheqd Studio 1️⃣Get started with cheqd Studio portal cheqd Studio uses a third party service called LogTo to handle user authentication and login. This allows users to create new accounts as well as sign in using their email, Google single sign-on, or Discord login. 2️⃣Select a Billing plan Once a user has signed in or created a new account, they will need to select a Billing Plan from the Billing tab on the cheqd Studio dashboard. You will be able to get started for free by selecting the "Test" plan, which includes a Free Trial. cheqd Studio billing uses Stripe as a payments processor and users will need to input their card information to initiate a billing plan. 3️⃣Create a new API key and authenticate with cheqd Studio APIs All cheqd Studio APIs use API keys as the mechanism to authenticate client requests. Historically, the acquisition of data operated on a simple premise: paying at the point of access / paying to access. Whether it was purchasing an API which provides data access like the CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko price feeds, or obtaining a dataset for marketing purposes, transactions revolved around paying for access to data. The emergence of #SSI disrupts this approach, shifting the practice from Paying to Access -> Paying to Verify. In SSI, the verifier or receiver seeks value from trusted data, while the holder asserts their right to control and ownership. 💡Breaking and Forging the Value Chain Anew with SSI  (This is the 2nd blog in the "Creating the Trusted Data Economy" series co-authored by Fraser Edwards and Teresa Chan) Identity and data is currently experiencing a paradigm shift, especially with respect to control and ownership. From eIDAS 2.0 using verifiable credentials & SSI to regulator challenges to Meta’s pay or consent approach, consumers are demanding and being empowered to control and own more of their own #data. Market forces such as the ease with which fraudsters can generate fraudulent images and media with AI, mean data must have veracity and verifiable lineage to be trustworthy. However, #SSI fundamentally breaks most of the commercial models mentioned in the previous blog at https://lnkd.in/dQpYG5GT. Like any other technology though, it requires a successful and sustainable commercial model to achieve and drive adoption.
