Our team at Loose Valley Care Home received a lovely visit on Friday 9th August from some local farm workers. Clock House Farm in Coxheath came to the home with four trays full of strawberries for our residents and team members.🍓 Thank you very much – we really appreciate your kind gesture and everyone at Loose Valley said how delicious your strawberries were! Oli (our MD & NextGen Fruit Group Chair), alongside a very capable committee, returned last week from running NextGen Fruit Group’s conference trip to California. The group of 53 visited 14 generous and informative hosts over 8 days covering 900 miles from LA to San Francisco. Visits included vertical farming in Compton, substrate production of cane fruit in the Oxnard District and RAC’s farming operation, including their nematode production, the World's largest organic Strawberry producer with Driscoll's, state of the art facilities at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), genetics work with Bloom Fresh, Family Tree Farm’s viewing nectarines, apples, raspberry cots, pistachios, almonds and blueberries, regenerative Ag at scale with Jackson Family Wines among many others. The week was also topped off by meeting some amazing characters that have been pioneers in our industry, Miles Riter, David Jackson and Tim Butcher, many thanks for generously giving up your time and hosting us. NextGen is focused on access to learning, information exchange and building lifetime connections in the industry, the committee were very pleased that the trip really delivered on this. The group is facilitated by industry partners support and generosity for which we are very grateful; Haygrove, Oxbury Bank Plc, Haynes Agri, BASF Agricultural Solutions, FarGro, Cocogreen, and Netafim.  Lastly, Oli Commented “having chaired the group for the last 2 years, I would like to thank the committee; Gail, Anna, Mike, Rob, Tom and Alana for their time and hard work in making this great trip happen. We are now excited to be handing over the reins for the next 2 years to Alana who we are confident will do an amazing job!” #nextgenfruitgroup #california #clockhousefarm

    Recruitment at Clock House Farm

Today we had this wonderful email from someone who took the trouble say how much they enjoy our blackberries. Agriculture is a tough industry and it is so good to have some praise and positivity for the fruit we grow. It was a great start to a Friday!! "Hello, We purchased some of your ‘very yummy looking Blackberries’ - Driscoll's Victoria whilst doing a grocery shop at Morrisons, Berwick upon Tweed this afternoon. We try to look for grown in the UK when buying summer/autumn fruits etc. in fact veg too. Have to pass onto you our comments - they taste as good as they look, envious of you being able to produce such delicious fruit, I would nibble as I picked, they are so early in the Summer, guessing with the help of poly tunnels, glass houses etc. Maybe the earlier than usual hot weather has helped too. Hope a little praise has helped ease the strain of all the hours you spend worrying and tending all your fruit and that the retailers are considerate to you too. Its a cut throat world for anyone producing any perishable goods so good luck and have a good season. Two of the older generation who appreciate what you do especially after such a wet Winter and Spring. We will look out for your name again Thank you, your grandparents will be proud of you.."

At Clock house Farm we are running the biggest agri-tech robotics demonstration project in the UK, in partnership with Saga Robotics/Thorvald. We were very pleased to welcome Andrew Griffiths, UK Minister of State for science, research and innovation an Katie Lam, Parliamentary candidate for the Weald of Kent to demonstrate how important a role robotics play in agriculture both now and in the future. Oli Pascall, Managing Director of Clock House Farm and James Dearing, Farms Director, were joined by Halvard Grimstad, Head of Deployment at Saga Robotics, who showcased the robots, providing a platform to discuss the practical application of robot technology SAGA ROBOTICS // THORVALD Halvard Grimstad Oli Pascall James Dearing Tale Hagelsteen
