Which law firms have the highest target hours? Law firms differ wildly in their minimum expectations of the number of billable hours their lawyers should aim to complete each year. Why do they matter? Billable hours often determine whether lawyers are eligible for a bonus. In addition, if lawyers are far off their billable hour targets (pro rata), they’re more likely to be staffed on additional projects. #lawfirm #lawyer #commerciallaw #corporatelaw #law #legalcareer #citylaw

Why do people quit City law? Careers with City law firms can be incredible rewarding (and lucrative!). However, they're not for everyone. Our founder, Jake Schogger, included. With this in mind, check out this newsletter, which explains why Jake personally quit the City, and provides links to resources and interviews where you can hear about others' experiences. #citylaw #commerciallaw #corporatelaw #lawyer #careerchange #law https://lnkd.in/ev3J9gYV

I also had the pleasure of meeting some of our new ambassadors! Thanks so much to everyone who came and said hi. We would be very happy to partner with your societies! Have a lovely weekend everyone :) #brightnetwork #commerciallaw #citycareer

Firms generally place a great degree of importance on their values, commitments to diversity and inclusion, and investments in corporate social responsibility initiatives. Discussing these factors can help you to demonstrate that you will be a good cultural fit, that your values align with the firm’s, and that you have a desire to contribute to the greater good. You can learn about a firm's values, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and corporate social responsibility programmes through discussions with its employees and other people who have previously interacted with the firm. Many firms also provide detailed information about these commitments on their websites and in their marketing materials. Values Has the firm highlighted particular core values that it tries to instil in all employees? Has the firm demonstrated success in upholding these values? If so, in what sense? Tip: if you mention values, make sure you understand what they mean and be prepared to discuss them in detail. Why do you care? Do the firm’s values align with your own, and if so, can you draw on previous experiences to evidence where you have previous demonstrated or upheld these values?
