Would you like to truly understand yourself? 💜   With September just around the corner, children going back to school, and schedules restarting, it’s the perfect time to start something new and spend some time on ‘you’.   One of our courses is all about understanding your inner dialogue and mind chatter which can make way for being able to really connect with yourself, give yourself empathy, recognise patterns in how you react to situations, and work on changing areas that no longer resonate with your needs.     Our mind chatter is responsible for a great many things, including:  * How we view ourselves often with less than helpful core beliefs - ‘I’m no good at socialising’  * How we view other people by way of judgement - ‘They’re too talkative, bossy, successful.’ Or compare them to ourselves – if we think they are ‘better, more successful, more generous’, etc. than us.   * How we react to people’s words or actions - assumptions, judgements, past experience may cause us to react in a way that we might later wish we hadn’t. * How we make decisions – e.g. whether or not to take on a task such as a presentation or a challenge, which is affected by our beliefs (helpful or unhelpful) about ourselves.  * How we perceive situations – ‘He ignored my email’ when perhaps the other person had had network problems and hadn’t received ours.   * How we select and use vocabulary - ‘I can’t do that’, ‘You never listen to me’ * How we feel – which impacts what we think and do within this internal cycle.     Our internal dialogue affects so many different aspects of our daily lives, and being able to understand and work on this means being able to improve your relationship with yourself, with others (whether that’s your partner, children, colleagues, friends, neighbours etc.), and with the world around you.     If you want to take this opportunity for ‘you’ then make sure to stay tuned for the release of our courses. Don’t forget these dates! 🗓️   Raising awareness, supporting and celebrating important Awareness Dates in the workplace is a useful way to focus on a topic, and open up conversations on subjects that may not necessarily be discussed but are nevertheless important. Open discussions can lead to more all-round understanding and connection – good for inclusion and diversity, and helping people feel psychologically safe.    So, we’ve put together a list of the September 2024 Awareness Dates for you to use and refer back to throughout the month:     * September: International Sleeptember    * 5th September: International Day of Charity   * 10th September: World Suicide Prevention Day     * 21st September: International Day of Peace    * 23rd to 29th September: International Week of Happiness at Work    * 23rd to 29th September: National Inclusion Week    Save this post for later so you don’t miss any important dates! #InternationalSleeptember #september #awareness #awarenessdates #awarenessdays #communication #workplace #commpassion #compassion #selfcompassion #leadershipdevelopment #leadership #workplaceculture

Do you communicate early enough? 🤨   As September approaches and work starts to pick back up, consider implementing some new methods and habits into your work routine for more effective planning and productivity.     One useful tip is to communicate as early as possible – the earlier the better for both receiver and giver.     Some reasons why we may not communicate (to a team or department, or even to one person) as early as we could do:  * Belief that there isn’t enough information to communicate   * Fear of not getting the communication right and having to backtrack  * Fear of looking foolish  * Fear that people may leave if they do not like the changes    So, we may not have all the answers or certain information at first, but this shouldn’t dissuade us from communicating.     Reasons why communicating early is so beneficial:  * Gives respect and understanding to stakeholders (the people affected directly and indirectly)  * Gains respect and understanding from stakeholders  * Gains early buy-in for plans – with more chance they will succeed  * Gives the ability to gauge feelings and issues sooner  * Sets the scene for all involved  * Manages expectations    Stay tuned to our socials and sign up to our newsletter using the Linktree in our bio for more tips like this. #psychology #workplacewellbeing #HappinesHappensMonth #workplaceculture #communication #workplace #compassion #commpassion #selfcompassion #leadershipdevelopment #leadership #workplaceculture

Are you an empathic person? 💜 Empathy is one of the most important parts of any relationship - with yourself, your partner, children, colleagues, boss, parents, neighbours. Being empathic means better connection, deeper understanding, emotional regulation, meeting your needs and more successful and compassionate conflict resolution. One aspect of empathy is empathically listening to others which involves: * Emptying our minds and being present in the room with the person * Listening intently - with all our senses * Seeking to understand the other’s viewpoint regardless of our own * Being able to metaphorically walk in their shoes, and share in what is going on for them right now * Reflecting on what needs the other person is not meeting in their situation. One of our new courses launching in September is all about empathy for others, which not only helps them but also helps us to release our own inner dialogue and emotions. The course will walk you through all the ways to become more empathic towards all those around you and - very importantly - to yourself. Make sure to stay tuned for the release of our courses and sign up to the launch reminder using the Linktree in our bio. #empathy #courses #masterclasses #onlinecourses #TheHumanLanguage #commpassion #CommPassionforyou #communication #wellbeing #individual #personalwellbeing #personaldevelopment #personalgrowth #family

It’s Never Give Up Day    This day reminds us to share our stories of resilience to highlight the power of perseverance and encourage and support those who may be struggling.  We know through cognitive behavioural studies that whatever we focus on grows. So, if we spend our thinking time on negative thoughts and thoughts of what we don’t have, that is where we are putting our energy. By making our inner communication more positive we can show ourselves support and make those challenging times a bit easier to navigate. How to make your inner communication more positive: * When we purposefully change our thinking to more positive thoughts, to grateful thoughts for all the things we do have, and to aspects of ourselves and others that we can appreciate, we automatically increase our dopamine levels and opportunities of receiving positivity from those around us. * A good place to start is by simply paying attention to your thoughts. * As you wake up in the morning you may hear yourself thinking ‘The weather is awful again’, or ‘It’s Monday and I have to start that huge project’. Catch those thoughts and immediately turn them into a positive ‘It’s raining again - the garden’s going to benefit from that!’ or ‘Great, a new week - I’m going to enjoy getting started on that new project’. Even if you don’t believe the positive statements, the change of perspective in your mind actually activates the part in your brain to engender more positive thoughts. You’ll be surprised at just how different you begin to feel, and how much better the day goes. Keep persevering with these changes every day to see long term benefits. #NeverGiveUpDay #positivity #HappinesHappensMonth #awareness #awarenessdates #august #communication #workplace #compassion #commpassion #selfcompassion #leadershipdevelopment #leadership

Are your conversations successful? 🗣️ We’re all aware of those difficult conversations that somehow only lead to more conflict and misunderstanding. Assumptions, from both sides of a conversation, play a large role in sparking reactions and defence mechanisms which gets in the way of understanding, connection and the best solutions. How can we reduce our tendency to make assumptions in our conversations?: * Be aware of your thoughts. * Be on the alert for any clues to suggest you have an assumption or a pre-conception. * Watch out for words such as ‘I bet…’, ‘I expect…’, ‘I suppose…’, ‘They will probably…’ are just some indicators that an assumption could be in action. These are rife in both business and at home and can be tricky to harness. * Gently push aside those thoughts that tend towards judgement and assumption. * Steer away from the experience of what has gone before and open your mind to what the person has to say there and then. Every conversation has the chance to be different if we allow it with our mind. * Be present to this new conversation. * Avoid doing or thinking about anything else when you are speaking with that person, to give them (and not your own ideas that may only focus on your perspective) the chance to speak out for themselves. * Focus on the words that the person is saying. * Aim to look at it from their perspective (even if it triggers a reaction in you) to be able to respond rather than react. One of our new courses launching in September is all about having conversations that lead to better understanding and outcomes - speaking and listening from the heart so that others can understand what you really feel and need, and you can equally delve into what it is that they need, free from judgement or confusion. Our behavioural patterns such as assumptions and judgemental language can be replaced with a more empathic and compassionate process. We have an opportunity for you 🫵   Yesterday was National Opportunity Day, initiated by Glasgow Kelvin College to show that no matter your age or current career, there’s an opportunity for you to ‘seize the moment’, so you can change your life and build your future.     On their website they say that “the window of opportunity shouldn’t close at 18, or when you didn’t get the exam grades you hoped for, or when you’ve already started one career; it’s there for you as long as you want it. The world is full of possibilities.”    At CommPassion for you, we’re offering you an opportunity to change your life with the way you speak and interact with the world around you. With our series of online courses on The Human Language, you can develop more self-awareness and self-confidence, more satisfying, connected relationships, and peace of mind – to literally transform your daily life. #NationalOpportunityDay #OpportunityDay #opportunity #awareness #awarenessdates #august #courses #masterclasses #onlinecourses #TheHumanLanguage #commpassion #CommPassionforyou #communication

Are you socially aware at work? 🧐   To improve our social awareness in workplace, we need to expand our focus of attention to others around us, the bigger picture.   It’s important to think about:  * Empathy – having sensitivity to others’ feelings and needs and considering their perspective; appreciating the differences in how people feel about things and naturally react to situations.   * Organisational awareness – the ability to read the currents of organisational life, build decision networks and navigate politics.  * Service orientation – recognising and meeting customer’s needs.    Expanding our awareness enables a better experience for us, our colleagues/ employees and clients.    Make sure to sign up to our newsletter using the Linktree in our bio for more information like this. #socialawareness #awareness #psychology #workplacewellbeing #HappinesHappensMonth #workplaceculture #communication #workplace #compassion #commpassion #selfcompassion #leadershipdevelopment #leadership #workplaceculture
