We're still looking back at an amazing afternoon at Broadnook on Wednesday! It wasn't just special guests like local politicians, partners and a TV news crew that we invited along on the day though – we were proud to welcome colleagues from across the Cora Homes team. That included the likes of Jess from our planning team and Jiten from business intelligence. Whether they work on-site or behind the scenes, everyone at Cora is playing their part in making our Broadnook vision a reality. But what is our Broadnook vision, you ask? Here's how we're achieving our mission of Creating Amazing Places at Broadnook: - Excellent quality, energy efficient homes - A plethora of community facilities, from sports spaces to parks - A village centre with shops, a new GP surgery and care facilities - More than 50% of land dedicated to green spaces - A £17million investment in local schools, including the construction of a new primary school and early years centre - Quick and regular transport links to Leicester and an easy commute to Midlands hubs like Nottingham and Derby Sound exciting? There's so much more to Broadnook, which you can find on our website: https://lnkd.in/eUajA_9F #CreatingAmazingPlaces #Team #Broadnook #NewHomes #StaffAppreciation RM Contractors

It was a pleasure to welcome the Deputy Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr David Northage and his wife Jenny to Broadnook yesterday to witness the start of construction at the historic Garden Village development. Cllr Northage has been a huge supporter of Broadnook and was full of praise for the Cora Homes team on the day. Here's what he had to say: “It’s a real privilege to be here today to witness another step forward in bringing this dream to life. “Charnwood Borough are immensely proud to be host to Leicestershire’s first Garden Village. This development is so exciting – a brand-new stand-alone community is being created. A community complete with every up-to-date facility to provide for modern day living. “Cora Homes are excited and proud to be part of this amazing project, and so they should be. We wish them well and thank them for being part of the Broadnook journey.” #CreatingAmazingPlaces #Broadnook #Leicestershire #NewHomes

This afternoon the Cora team celebrated the start of construction at the upcoming Broadnook Garden Village development with a groundbreaking ceremony. The building of an array of excellent quality, energy-efficient homes has begun at the development in Rothley, Leicestershire, which will be the county’s first garden village, made up of more than 1,900 homes, community centres and green spaces. Also in attendance at the event was the Deputy Mayor of Charnwood. Bert Broadhead, Director at Cora Homes, said: “We’re hugely proud to be breaking ground at Broadnook. “We can’t wait to see the project advance and for people to see the Cora way.” Find out more about the event and the next steps for the development, on our website: https://lnkd.in/gVC8SNfX #Broadnook #Leicestershire #BreakingGround #Construction #HousingDevelopment With thanks to our colleagues at RM Contractors. Here at Cora, we understand the impact outside play has on children’s development. We recognise the importance of green spaces and playground facilities in all neighbourhoods which is why they form an important part of our mission to Create Amazing Places. In fact, more than 50% of the entire garden village at Broadnook will be devoted to green spaces. The new government has unveiled the key points behind the proposed amendments to national planning policy expected later this month. Reacting to Monday’s announcement, Robbie Locke, Head of Planning and Strategic Land at Cora, said: “I think I speak for everyone at Cora and within our supply chain, in that we warmly welcome the reintroduction of housing targets. “What we have seen in recent years has been a watering down from government on a number of fronts, particularly those related to housing targets and the duty to cooperate. As a result, there has been no desire to deal with strategic issues. “The additional 300 planning officers are a good start – but putting that into perspective nationwide, we could be looking at one officer per local authority, who could then be faced with picking up a backlog of anywhere from tens to hundreds of applications. “The push towards grey belt sites is an interesting concept, however achieving targets of 300,000 homes per year cannot be achieved without significant exploration of greenfield land. Equally important, particularly over the next five years, is the role of small and medium size sites in quickly boosting housing supply. “It would also be pleasing to see some attention given to SME housebuilders, who also have sites within their portfolios that have challenges requiring government intervention. “Overall, Monday’s announcement is the first step in a long journey to fixing the damage caused by the previous administration. Rapid action is required to see tangible results in the next five years and we’re ready to get building and start Creating Amazing Places for future communities to thrive.” More information on Cora and our approach to strategic land can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eGSVQhTT. #Planning #PlanningReform #Construction #Housebuilder #CreatingAmazingPlaces
