About us

We are a global award-winning equity, diversity and inclusion (DE&I) consultancy who partner with ambitious companies to build a new ROI: return on inclusion. This ROI matters to our people, business and planet. We focus building inclusive brands with four 'C's: 'Conscious Strategy and Systems, Capability Building, Creative Excellence and Community Impact.' We are trusted by the world's top brands, including McDonalds, PepsiCo, Mars, Philips, Reckitt and many more to embed inclusive brand strategy, all the way down to activation. For us, inclusion sits at the heart of innovation, product and service design, CX and insights and analytics. Can we talk about the recent UK riots - and what brands and businesses should do now? For those in the UK who experienced racism, Islamophobia and Xenophobia, there is a fear the recent riots are still with us, seen in Scotland this past weekend. Together, we can work harder to dismantle the systemic racism that has spilled out onto our streets. ‘Doing the work’ is why Creative Equals exists in our sphere of influence. Our goal is to embed diversity, equity and inclusion in the day-to-day processes people work within to make lasting change. By doing this, we make a more inclusive workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging and their contributions are valued to make powerful work. We exist to build brands to have an outsized, positive impact and create an inclusive industry we can all be proud of. So, what now? 📣 Apply the Online Safety Act: invest in platforms that uphold basic human rights. 📣 Fund high-quality journalism: support pluralistic, independent media and quality journalism, like the Financial Times (we love their new campaign). It is kryptonite to disinformation. 📣 Invest in local news outlets from diverse communities. Use your media £££ to enable diverse perspectives to thrive in media. 📣 Conduct a media review: look at where and how you're funding quality journalism. 📣 Double down on representation: brands drive social inclusion and cohesion. We can have the power to create stories that unite us all. We are not powerless, and bringing out change is something we can do. It requires commitment towards equality and hope for better, are you on board? If your brand or business would like to step up your DEI strategy to bring some of the changes about, get in touch. There is an ongoing trend of brands and organisations reversing their DEI policies and practices. We’ve seen brands pull their “representation goals” and eliminate their supplier diversity quotas. If DEI was window dressing, or a tick box exercise, we can see why this might be an attractive solution (If you’re not embedding DE&I into your processes, across your business, you’re not likely to see the benefits of inclusion. Window dressing gets window dressed results: disappointment). But the incontrovertible truth is that DE&I is a powerful and differentiating enabler to brand and business success. Real diversity, equity, and inclusion work cannot be separated from what makes a healthy, well-functioning workplace and when you invest in DEI, the results speak for themselves. Giants like P&G Europe grew their market share by being inclusive (and by reaching more of their market through accessibility initiatives), and research from the Unstereotype Alliance with Oxford University's Saïd Business School showed progressive, inclusive advertising drives a significant sales uplift – over 16% when compared with less progressive ad content. Over 60% of Grand Prix winners had DE&I as a core element of their campaigns last year. Research by Kantar shows diverse-by-design teams make better decisions than homogenous ones 87% of the time, and are more innovative and are 70% more likely to capture new markets. Leaders in the know are doubling down on DE&I. A 2024 survey of hundreds of C-Suite executives found that 80% are maintaining investment on DEI work in their workplaces; only 20% plan to scale back. That survey found that more than 50% of CEOs committed to DEI will be ramping UP their efforts in 2024, not just holding constant. A separate survey of Chief HR Officers found that 0% planned to scale back DEI efforts in 2024, with 63% expressing a clear focus on increasing diversity. Investment in DE&I builds better brands and businesses, and delivers profitable returns and builds better brand equity. If you’d like to know how to grow DE&I within your brand marketing and comms for real, impactful growth, get in touch: [email protected]. #inclusiveMarketing #DEI #inclusiveComms #whyArePeopleListeningToRoddyStarbuckAnyway #innovation #marketingInnovation #productInnovation #inclusiveInnovation #creativeprojects #creativeStrategy #productdesign #productdesigners #creativeinsights #inclusion #diversity #marketingStrategy #inclusiveMarketing #diversityandinclusion #inclusivitymatters #equalopportunity #strategicplanning ID: Orange background, white text: If you want to grow markets, address skilled talent shortages and drive innovation: DEI is the answer.

    Could you donate for Kai?

🖤 Kua haere ia ki tōna moenga roa 🖤 ‘He has gone to his eternal rest’   This is a post about unbearable bereavement and the loss of a child, for mother, friend, colleague and fighter Elly H.. I wanted to tell her story, because she is unable to right now. I met Elly at AR start-up Blippar when she was pregnant with her son, Kai in 2015. We clicked and became work ‘sisters’ and friends. She is Māori, fluent in Te Reo, a multi-skilled strategist, UX designer and if you’ve ever read Creative Equals’ socials, that’s her voice. She has designed and developed most of our seminal programmes and has been instrumental in shaping us. When Kai was born 2016, he barely survived. For he was diagnosed with a rare disease, NKH, a genetic disorder for which there is no cure. The disease is terminal - most kids live between 3-5 years.   In Kai’s short life, there has been so much joy, love and beauty with her whanau. And there has been the flip side of many late-night trips to A&E, the tyranny of endless seizures, arguing with doctors who have less knowledge of the illness than Elly does and the quest to navigate a world not designed for families with disabled children. Elly has set up a foundation, jumped out of planes, run marathons and fundraised to raise money for a cure. A couple of weeks ago, Kai passed away in Elly’s arms at the age of eight. The grief my friend bears is unfathomable. There are over 50 children born with NKH each year. This is not on a priority list for the medical profession, yet the pain it inflicts is profound. The fact is a cure is close, it just needs £2 million pounds of research grants. That’s all. So I’m asking because she has no words, could you help her raise £40,000? If we could do that five times over, we'd save 50 children a year in the UK. Nā koutou i tangi, nā tatau katoa, Elly and Sam  ‘When you cry, your tears are shed by us all.' Kua hinga te tōtara i Te Waonuia-a-Tāne. LinkedIn, do your thing. Make the impossible possible.

Want to work with us this quarter? Supercharge marketing for good and growth with us.

View profile for Ali Hanan, graphic

I don't normally talk about the work we do, so today's the day. As a sole-female founder with ZERO VC (and thank you to ALL our mentors), we've built from scratch. The results we deliver are OUTSTANDING and the 'Return on Inclusion' is clear on every project. Today, as the fresh 'term' starts, I just couldn't be prouder of our team and our impact. We're ready for it. Here's the thing. Brands can go to the 'big players' who have set up in this space as an 'additional offering'. The question is have they done this day in and out with a professional team of DEI experts for years? No. Will they deliver best-in-class work and capability building? No. Feedback is they don't do it with deep authenticity, like we do. How do we know? We're often asked to review, then redo their work. 😎 (Diverse teams = better work = Creative Equals) So, if you're a CMO focused on INCLUSIVE brand-building, creative excellence/effectiveness and building a strong cultural muscle around it, we have built a Rolls Royce team of some of the most talented strategists, facilitators and researchers on the planet. Here's what we do. We deliver inclusive strategy across the entire value chain, bringing diversity, equity and inclusion as part of creative excellence/effectiveness to your storyboards/AI and we deliver 5* capability building and inclusive leadership for teams. And, we pay it back to community growth and expanding our own social impact. Yep, that's what our team does. When you work with us, you invest in a diverse supply chain and a diverse-owned ecosystem. Working with us = putting your money where it matters. If you want to supercharge your teams, your marketing and your brand for this quarter, GET IN TOUCH. The creds deck is next level.

When did Roddy Starback become someone whose values we follow?

View profile for Ali Hanan, graphic

Wait... Ford Motor Company. What? Why? Two years ago, Ogilvy stood proudly on stage at Creative Equals conference talking about Ford Motor Company's 'Gayraptor' truck made in response to homophobic tweets. Now this... Why are ANY US brands bowing down to Roddy Starbuck? And, when did Pride events become 'divisive' in the US? This guy a FAILED filmmaker turned failed congressional candidate. What he thinks and believes... - he bullied Megan Fox's child for their gender identity - toxic chemicals cause people to be LGBTQIA - the Covid vaccine caused Matthew Perry's death - and trans people are pedophiles. When did Roddy Starbuck's values take down those of Ford's? For a company that proudly celebrated their commitment to DEI two years ago, this is incredibly disappointing.
