This is Zhang Yufa A mastermind behind a $14 BILLION crypto scam that sparked an international manhunt This is the untold story of one of the biggest pyramid schemes in history: China has deported a Malaysian businessman accused of orchestrating a $14 billion crypto Ponzi scheme. The extradition is a significant victory in the fight against cross-border financial crimes. The suspect is known as Zhang Yufa (aka Tedy Teow Wooi Huat) He is the alleged mastermind behind a group involved in a decade-long scam that defrauded millions through promises of high returns via crypto investments. Their MBI group reportedly stole over $14 billion by convincing more than 10 million members to join the scheme. They required participants to pay fees in exchange for high returns. Fees went up to $34,300 The operation began in 2012 and flourished for over a decade. Chinese authorities became interested in the case in 2020 when the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau started investigating it. the Interpol Bureau in China issued a red notice for Zhang in 2021. Thai police arrested him in 2022. Zhang's arrest and extradition from Thailand to China marks the first financial crime extradition between the two countries.
