Preserving Brent's Heritage, One Story at a Time ✨ Tania, the We Wear Heritage Oral Historian, is starting on an inspiring journey through Brent, gathering rich cultural stories and memories from local residents through their traditional clothing. By asking, exploring, and interpreting the personal narratives woven into each garment, Tania captures powerful oral histories that reveal cultural memories we rarely get to hear about. Through these stories, we aim to celebrate the unique traditions that shape who we are and ensure they are shared and preserved for future generations 🎨👗 Recently, Bhawani from the Nepalese Rai community shared her insights into the traditions of Ubhauli and Udhauli festivals, and the intricate craftsmanship of traditional attire. Congolese women of the diaspora spoke about the significance of Liputa, a symbol of unity and pride across generations. Malgorzata highlighted the importance of Polish traditional attire, keeping her cultural roots alive 💫 By recording these stories, we aim to preserve the untold narratives of our Brent community that might otherwise be lost or remain hidden within families. Safely deposited at The Brent Archives, these stories will be accessible to future generations. They are more than just memories—they are the threads that weave our community together. In preserving them, we honour our past and inspire the future 🌍 A special thanks to #NationalLottery players and The National Lottery Heritage Fund for making this possible ❤️ #WeWearHeritage #OralHistory #CulturalPreservation #CommunityVoices #Diversity #HeritageMatters

🎨 Meet Nam! I believe everyone should have access to ceramics. It fosters creativity and can transform a lump mass into anything imaginable. Ceramics level the playing field, bringing communities together. 🏺👥 When I came to the UK, my parents brought clothes from Vietnam that didn't suit the climate. This experience taught me the importance of heritage and adapting to new environments. 🌏👚 Watch the video and 💌 Share your heritage story at [email protected]. #WeWearHeritage #Community #Creativity #Ceramics
