    🌍 The UK signs international AI treaty and provides security boost for data centres   The UK signed a Council of Europe treaty for collective #AI management and public protection and proposed a £3.75 billion data centre investment to create jobs and strengthen #cybersecurity. The UK has now designated these centres as Critical National Infrastructure, the first new CNI designations since 2015.   🔊 “Rapid adoption of AI and the need for a new generation of powerful, sovereign data centres to support it means they are becoming inextricably intertwined with critical national infrastructure," said David Reed, Chief Knowledge Officer and Evangelist, DataIQ.   The CNI status will help protect vital #data, including NHS and financial information. How data leaders are mastering the art of data valuation Data, unlike traditional assets, lacks a clear valuation benchmark despite its growing importance, as businesses become more data-centric. Investment in #data — whether for transformation, migration, or literacy — is crucial, but establishing a clear, consistent measure of its value remains challenging. Anmut's research estimates the data held by firms in the top ten #FTSE 350 sectors is worth £295 billion, or 20% of their market value. 📊 To build on this research, we approached the DataIQ research panel consisting of global organisations to understand how data value in their organisation is perceived and measured. Is this £295 billion a pipedream, or a vision of the future? Here's a sneak peak of what you can find in the report: 💡 Data holds significant value in sectors such as media, technology, energy, and entertainment. However, it is not considered valuable within governmental organisations. 💡 The research revealed that not all organisations within the research panel, prioritised "better decision-making" despite acknowledging data’s perceived value.     📢 Has anybody got career progression down to a fine art, or are most organisations still painting in the dark? Our latest report investigates #data upskilling and career progression, with a particular emphasis on the development of data skills in light of the influence of generative AI (genAI) and major technology firms. Despite the increasing significance of data skills for the future, the field seems to be struggling with progress. 📝 Drawing on research from the DataIQ research panel, which includes prominent brands across sectors such as retail, finance, and transport, we have provided an in-depth analysis of how data careers and skills development are approached in 2024, highlighting the existing challenges and discrepancies in meeting future requirements. 🗝 Here are some key insights: 🔹 Smaller organisations, often prioritise generative AI development without adequate governance. This oversight is concerning, as 4 out of 5 small businesses likely to neglect the importance of governance and data quality in their AI advancements. 🔹 Only 50% of organisations have clear progression paths for data professionals, and about a third of respondents admit their career progression strategies are still "a work in progress." or faltering beyond early programmes. 🔹 It was found that the average tenure of a data practitioner or analyst before promotion or departure is 29 months, or 2 years and 5 months. 📥 Download the full report for a deeper dive into these findings: https://lnkd.in/ejdGRcyU
