About us

Decathlon was founded in 1976 in Lille, France, with a mission to sustainably make sport accessible for the many. Before too long Decathlon UK opened its first store in Surrey Quays, London, in 1999, to help the British population get more physically active through sport. We have since developed into a full multi-channel shopping experience, including over 40 purpose-built stores across the nation. As a family-owned company, we create a unique range of expertly designed products across over 70 sports that offer unbeatable value for money. Our teammates are always on hand to share their passion and trusted expertise, giving you all the sports, advice, equipment and services, you need at the most affordable prices. So, whether you’re a total beginner, or a regular, we’ve got it covered. Let’s Play UK.

"Each time we develop a product or service we try to have a global customer journey, a vision. It's not the same for a tennis racquet, a mountain bike or a road bike, because it's not the same customer.” Decathlon UK CEO, Eric Mazillier. Curious about Decathlon’s new identity and innovative approach to the cycling market? Playing with pride 🌈🎉 Last month, our team came together in remarkable ways to honour Pride Month, embracing the spirit of inclusivity through sports! Here’s a glimpse into the activities and initiatives we proudly undertook: 🌈 Celebrated Pride through several runs and a friendly game of ultimate frisbee 🌈 Our annual Pride Potluck brought everyone together to share delicious food and meaningful conversations about diverse backgrounds and cultures within the team 🌈 Led by our LGBTQ+ ERG, an e-learning module focused on LGBTQ+ awareness and understanding was launched for all Decathlon Teammates 🌈 We hosted a film night featuring impactful movies that portray LGBTQ+ experiences and stories While these celebrations were filled with joy and connection, they also underscored a critical message: the importance of awareness, support, and advocacy. Keeping pride alive is not just about one month of festivities; it’s about fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected every single day — and we’re here for it. We’d love to hear from you! How do you celebrate and raise awareness for Pride? Share your experiences and initiatives in the comments below and let’s learn from each other. 💭 #Pride #PlayWithPride

At Decathlon, we are dedicated to finding innovative solutions that enable our sports users to keep doing what they love in a more sustainable way. To mark World Oceans Day on June 8th, we proudly launched our Yulex100 wetsuits, made from 100% natural rubber—an industry-first innovation! “It’s critical that we reduce the impact we have on the planet, and for that, we must rewire the way we think all along our value chain and transform our linear production and consumption models into circular economies. But we can’t do this alone. We have to work collaboratively with other like-minded organisations and individuals. The journey wasn’t simple - replacing the main ingredient of neoprene foam (polymer) without altering the production process, product performance (a wetsuit must be warm and stretchy) or the price. But we did it! And the result is phenomenal! An 80% reduction in CO2 eq. emissions with the natural rubber compared with neoprene foam. Mind blown!” Quote: Anna Turrell. Chief Sustainability Officer, Decathlon. #Yulex100 #Sustainability #Innovation #WorldOceansDay
