The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) have accredited our MSc Work & Organisational Psychology and MSc Occupational Psychology. This will make them the only CIPD-accredited work psychology programmes in Scotland. Also, the MSc Occupational Psychology will be dual accredited! Already the only British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited programme in Scotland, it will be jointly recognised by the CIPD. We are proud to be advancing occupational and organisational psychology education and practice in Scotland.

Our Masters students met up again with students from Quinnipiac University, CT, USA on a study abroad visit to Glasgow completing a course called Psychology in the Workplace. This time we were hosted by the Lightweight Manufacturing Centre (LMC) at the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS) (https://lnkd.in/eTFV-8mi) and took part in a joint workshop - Accessible Automation: Integrating People in Technological Advancements. Many thanks to Lee Pinnell and his team at the LMC for showing us around their work on the Reconfigurable Pilot Line and helping us see think about human-centred issues related to using the technology they’re developing. Thanks also to Jen Remnant and Jed Moore for presenting their work on robotics, AI, accessibility and ethics, and for giving us some ideas on potential collaborations between our WEO and engineering colleagues. We hope our US friends made it back to Connecticut safely and to see them again soon!

Our colleague, Professor Tom Baum, was a contributing researcher and author for Chapter 2 (Strengthening the tourism workforce) in this annual OECD publication, which addresses the role of government policy and private sector collaboration in building resilience in a workforce badly impacted by the global pandemic. Key take-aways from the chapter include addressing working conditions and low pay in the industry and the imperative to recognise the needs of tourism workers in wider economic and community development plans, particularly with reference to housing, transport, education and child care. The chapter highlights the need for tourism SMEs to develop capacity with respect to digital transformation in the sector. A key recommendation in support of policy going forward is to improve the quality and comparability of data on tourism employment across the tourism sectors of OECD member countries.
Pleased to be a contributing author, along with Professor Richard Robinson (Northumbria University), to Chapter 2 of this important annual publication - Strengthening the Tourism Workforce. OECD Tourism Trends and Policies is designed to inform policy makers at a national level as well as key industry stakeholders of key issues in the sector and it is good to see workforce concerns recognised in this context. Key take-aways from the chapter include strategies to address working conditions and low pay in the industry and the imperative to recognise the needs of tourism workers in wider economic and community development plans, particularly with reference to housing, transport, education and child care. The chapter highlights the need for tourism SMEs to develop capacity with respect to digital transformation in the sector. Sharing for better reach for Jannie Kjær Jørgensen, an MSc Occupational Psychology student at Department of Work, Employment and Organisation
We're working with Jannie Kjær Jørgensen, an MSc student from University of Strathclyde researching #DisabilityInclusion in the workplace as part of our #WhyYouAskin campaign. Jannie is exploring the #barriers to disability inclusion within the UK #workplace and examining how perceptions of fairness influence these barriers. If you're working in the UK and aged 18 or above, share your perspective to help understand #DisabilityInclusion at work. Your insights will be valuable in identifying how organisations can foster a #supportive and #inclusive work environment for disabled employees. It only takes 5 mins! https://lnkd.in/eJQgZ_x5
