💫 Great to see our Chief Strategy & Policy Officer Jessica R. presenting the need for AI in transport at Nesta Policy Live yesterday. Learn more about this practical application of deep tech here: https://lnkd.in/e3jyQv6z #AI #transport
Thank you Nesta for hosting the #PolicyLive conference yesterday debating mission-led government. A few highlights ⭐ 🔵 🔵 Delighted that supporting families – and the critical role of building strong, nurturing relationships – was a feature of this conference. What should the next generation of integrated family support look like? included brilliant inputs from Aida Cable (thanks for the #HomeStart shout out!), Marc Rooney Laura Gilbert and Pasco Fearon. Sarah Cattan chaired excellently given so much to talk about...! 🔵 Important conversation on child poverty - reminding of the need to continue to hold government’s feet to the fire on tackling child poverty as an underpinning foundation of mission-led government. with Dan Paskins Child Poverty Action Group UK and others 🔵 Test and learn for a mission-driven government. Dame Louise Casey on top form hosting a debate around the importance of research, evaluation and insight with David Halpern Kevan Collins and Laura Gilbert 🔵 How do policymakers get to grips with AI? Jill Rutter disconcertingly convincing in the role of “Minister for the Future” deciding whether education, health, transport, or work should be the priority for government-led investment. Excellent inputs from Sarah Douglas Jessica R. Tim Horton and Kevin Martin 🔵 I contributed to a roundtable discussion on the benefits and risks of AI applications in the early years. (In short, I think I said I see AI is a means not an end, and the primary goal in the early years should be to enhance human relationships. AI can certainly help do this but we should be intentional, relational, and alert to inequality, inequity, exclusion and bias. Great to hear from Brett Wigdortz OBE Samantha Creme National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) Ada Lovelace Institute Karlis Kanders Matt Arnerich Renate Samson Eleanor Ireland Krishma Qudus Hannah-Beth Clark 🔵 And to round things off a superb contribution from David Miliband emphasising the need for coalition building - building coalitions of the willing across government, civil society, business - to advance social change - in a fireside chat with Sarah Hunter Always great to catch up with Celia Hannon Samantha Creme Kully Kaur-Ballagan Georgia Gould and to speak to people doing great stuff like Moria Sloan and Jenny Rouse Thanks Nesta for an inspiring day!
