As part of our mission to contribute towards positive social impacts, the team at Newmarket Holidays have undertaken volunteering opportunities within the local community. We have been working closely with Dons Local Action Group, who are a local network of volunteers initially formed in response to the COVID-19 crisis and now permanent across Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston. They aim to help those in the local community to fight poverty and offer support by providing food parcels, household goods, furniture and appliances. DONS Local Action Group also offer laptops for children who do not have access to online learning. Various departments came together across two dates to help with packing food parcels, completing deliveries to those in need and collecting donations from generous members of the public outside local supermarkets! Thank you to DONS Local Action Group for having us, and thank you to our volunteers from team Newmarket Holidays!

We are constantly amazed by the generosity of the people who donate at our supermarket stalls. This was collected in three hours at Waitrose & Partners Wimbledon yesterday morning. Much of it will be going straight out to households today. We are so grateful to be able to provide fresh produce, such as milk and cheese, and fresh fruit and vegetables to our clients. Having a variety of healthy food items really makes a difference to them. A huge thank you to everyone who donates at one of our supermarket stalls in Merton, Kingston and Wandsworth. And, of course, to our incredible volunteers 💛💙 #donations #community

DLAG volunteer Meena Pabla represented DLAG at the excellent Merton London Borough Council's Merton Heritage Discovery Day last Saturday. The event went very well with Meena saying: “I received positive feedback about the work taken forward by DLAG as well as messages of thanks for support received. There was also some keen interest towards volunteering opportunities with DLAG which was a nice way to finish the day! It was great to have Rosie Russell from AFC Wimbledon Women  close by.” We love connecting with our community at events like this.  #communityimpact

Since the launch of Keep Kids Connected in April 2020 we have distributed over 3,750 laptops to 144 schools for those who could not afford them.💻 This is an incredible figure but we need your help to keep up this support.🙏 Do you have any laptops up to eight years old that you no longer need? If so please donate them to DLAG. Our super KKC Team will wipe and restore them before distributing the laptops to households through schools.🏫 Or perhaps you can spare some time to help the KKC Team? Thank you very much to all the staff in the A&E department at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who have set up a permanent DLAG donations point. Khalil Secker, one of 200+ staff in the A&E department, commented: "We are proud to collaborate with our friends at DLAG. The collection point at St George’s is filling up steadily. We ran a raffle to launch it and announced it to all staff. A pub quiz has been organised to raise money for donations and the staff will all keep championing donations within the department."
