EET Hydrogen is a leading player in the energy transition and is developing the first large scale, low carbon hydrogen production hub in the UK. By 2030, we’re aiming to deliver nearly 4GW of low carbon hydrogen – 40% of the UK Government’s target. We’re investing £1bn in the UK’s largest industrial region (the North-West) to enable businesses to switch from fossil fuels to low carbon energy, helping to secure and grow vital industries and jobs and unlocking billions of pounds of related investment. An integral part of HyNet, one of two UK Government’s Track 1 clusters for industrial decarbonisation, EET Hydrogen’s HPP1 plant (350MW capacity) was selected as one of two initial large low carbon hydrogen plants in the UK. HPP2 will be the largest low carbon hydrogen plant in the UK producing up to 1,000MW – enough to power the city of Liverpool. The initial HPP1 and HPP2 plants will capture around 2.5 million tonnes of carbon per annum – equivalent to taking 1.1 million cars off the roads.

Big news for the UK energy sector! Launching GB Energy today, the government has revealed plans to help boost new technologies such as hydrogen, wave & tidal energy, and carbon capture and storage, through an innovative partnership with The Crown Estate. Hydrogen is recognised as being an important source of home grown power generation which will increase our energy independence and help decarbonise the power sector by 2030.

Yesterday the CCSA’s CEO Ruth Herbert MPhys FEI visited the HyNet North West Industrial Cluster, alongside the Italian Ambassador to the UK and representatives from the EU Commission. The tour consisted of: 🔹 A visit to EET Hydrogen, a leading project in producing low-carbon hydrogen to support the UK's net zero goals 🔹 A site walk of the Protos CCS project, an essential initiative for capturing and storing CO2 to reduce industrial emissions 🔹 A tour of Eni’s offshore facilities 🔹 A roundtable discussion During the roundtable, Ruth gave an overview of HyNet’s role in accelerating the development of the UK CCS industry, the Cluster Sequencing Process, and the importance of a post-election Government maintaining momentum towards reaching final investment decisions by September. #NetZero | #CCUS | #CarbonCapture

Yesterday, we welcomed Italy’s Ambassador to the UK, Inigo Lambertini, for a tour around Stanlow Refinery. He was joined by a delegation of economic, environmental, and energy advisors from the EU and the Italian Embassy, along with representatives from Eni, Heidelberg Materials UK, ENCYCLIS, Carbon Capture and Storage Association, and HyNet. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase HyNet's role in developing a low-carbon hydrogen economy and to discuss further decarbonisation opportunities at Stanlow Refinery, emphasising the potential for increased investments under the Track-1 expansion. Tony Fountain led the group around the EET Fuels and EET Hydrogen site, where we’re decarbonising our production process and where the low-carbon hydrogen will be produced and later supplied to industrial businesses across the North West of England, aiding them in the decarbonisation of their operations, protecting jobs and driving economic growth. #PerfomingToday #TransformingForTomorrow #hydrogen #hydrogeneconomy Stanlow Terminals EET
