The foundation for organisational growth? Personal growth. Our approach recognises the complex interplay between an individual's thoughts, emotions and behaviours—and the underlying psychological and physiological factors that influence them. We work with senior leaders and teams at this deeply individual level to unearth their drivers and reflect on dynamics that shape their everyday behaviours and interactions. We're proud to work in partnership with organisations to develop effective, congruent leaders, who build efficient, harmonious workplaces. If you're a high achiever, this is why goal-based coaching can be problematic. Goal-based coaching is the most widespread form of coaching. And it does have its place. But think about it: if you're a high achiever, you naturally strive to achieve goals, all the time—which can be precisely the problem. The drive to succeed and the ability to work to high standards may serve you in many ways, but there's often a shadow side to that perfectionism, which can be really debilitating. Compounding this in coaching won't do you any favours. The work we do at Famn is rooted in Gestalt's Paradoxical Theory of Change: the idea that change comes from accepting who we are, not striving to be someone we are not. Rather than contributing to the pressure to succeed, our approach to coaching helps high achievers draw on what is valuable and understand what is less helpful, so they can work and lead effectively. Why your employees need more than free yoga... Mindfulness has enormous value in all aspects of our lives, but as Head Coach Roger Taylor explains below, it's often misused by Workplace Wellbeing initiatives. While gong baths and yoga classes are nice-to-haves, they don't tend to be effective solutions for complex personal and organisational challenges. To offer more than a temporary painkiller, we need to go deeper. Psychology-based coaching helps teams and leaders to know their own minds. Developing this "mindfulness"—in other words, self-awareness—is the gateway to emotional intelligence. In a professional context, self-awareness gives us greater control over how we move through the workplace and manage our many daily interactions. So that we can respond and react in ways that serve us—and the situation we find ourselves in—more effectively. It's a key part of emotional intelligence, and one of the core capabilities our approach to coaching seeks to develop. There are two key ways coaching can foster greater DE&I: 1. Supporting those who aren't part of the dominant majority to feel more secure and confident. 2. Developing senior leaders to cultivate the resilience needed to work in high-pressure, sometimes hostile, environments. We offer a range of psychology-based coaching solutions to work at these different levels of your organisation. From 1:1 executive coaching, to bespoke group programmes for female leaders. Self-awareness can be taught. Our coaches are living proof. Countless studies show that self-awareness and emotional intelligence are two of the strongest predictors of success in teams, leaders and organisations. Yet the myth that these are fixed or ingrained qualities prevails—at the cost of organisations properly investing in nurturing them. In fact, not only can self-awareness and emotional intelligence be taught, but they can also be continually developed. After all, we as humans are changing all the time, and so is the world around us—there's always more to learn. Like Claire, all of our coaches bring rich careers and personal experiences to draw from. We support their ongoing personal and professional growth, from obligatory regular sessions with an experienced supervisor, to ongoing events and opportunities for our Associate Community. Because the more we grow, the more you can too. Email [email protected] to learn more about our 1:1, Team & Group and Bespoke Coaching Programmes. #coaching #EQ #selfawareness
