What a great session today. Jonathan Berry was invited to talk to USAID HIV/AIDS Speaker Series on our journey with the UNAIDS AIDS Data Repository that Fjelltopp has been collaborating on for several years now. I managed to steal the limelight for five minutes to talk about how embedding AI into our products can help improve data quality and lead to more insights in HIV epidemic control. It was also great to hear from Sarah Morris from Audere on their amazing co-design projects helping people living with HIV/AIDS around the world - it's clear how ethically developed AI models can have a real impact on people's lives. Thanks so much for the invite Reshma Bhattacharjee MBBS, MS, MPH!

Do you need to conduct data management and analysis for your research project? It can be hard to implement and maintain successful data processes. Fjelltopp provides expert data services. We use open-source tools (such as ODK and KoboToolbox) to support data collection and can build you automated pipelines to clean, profile and analyse the data to create insights and visualisations. Whether that be a real-time, online dashboard or just a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for other teams to build on. Our approach ensures best practices in data management throughout the research project, meaning the analysis will be easily repeatable, auditable, organised and completely secure. CKAN is an Open Source Platform for you to store all of your health data in an organised and accessible way. Just like all software systems, CKAN requires active ongoing maintenance. We'd like to share a few of our top tips: 📈Starting from the bottom, organise your code base well. Minimise the number of repositories and lines of code that you are responsible for maintaining. Avoid forking the core CKAN repository or any third-party extensions. Wherever possible, override the necessary behaviour using Plugin interfaces in your single custom extension. 📈Write good code. Not just code that works. For instance, only import core CKAN components via the plugins toolkit, use chained actions wherever possible and follow the documented best practices. 📈 Keep up to date with the latest patch versions of CKAN and security updates. Just like you wouldn't leave your personal belongings unprotected, make sure your data isn’t left open to attacks. Keep your information safe and sound! We worked with WHO Ukraine to provide them with research support. They aid the Ukrainian Ministry of Health in developing evidence-based health policies and strategies to achieve universal health coverage. For this project, we worked closely with the WHO Emergency and Trauma Co-ordinator, Dr Omar Saleh.  We provided a technical support role to Dr Saleh and other WHO staff, bringing expertise and best practices in data collection, analysis and research. We received a testimonial reflecting our commitment to our client and their needs. Collaborating with Dr Omar Saleh is rewarding and we took many positive things away from the experience.
