This month, we’re celebrating 15 amazing years of FoodCycle. It all began with Kelvin, our founder and very first volunteer. Since then, he’s inspired thousands of others to join in. Last year alone, 5,849 dedicated volunteers served 83 communities across the UK, saving 239 tonnes of food from going to waste. We’ve come such a long way since Kelvin first founded FoodCycle, and this month, we’re taking a moment to celebrate all the incredible people who have been part of our journey. So today, let's give it up for Kelvin. The food we've saved, the friendships we've made and the brews we've drank are all down to him. 👏 #15YearsOfFoodCycle

While many of us were enjoying a break, many of our dedicated volunteers made sure that nobody in their community went without a meal this weekend. Thank you so much to Louise and to everybody who gave their time this weekend 🙂🥦

Last month, some of our extraordinary JETers geared up for the sixth edition of the JET charity bike ride, setting off on two inspiring 100+ mile bike journeys for remarkable causes 🚴💪 Starting at 5 AM, our riders in the UK and Netherlands, embarked from the London and Enschede offices, passing through picturesque landscapes and challenging terrains, reaching their destinations in Bristol and Amsterdam. Over 13 hours, they collectively raised an impressive €24,741 for FoodCycle in the UK and Prinses Máxima Centrum voor kinderoncologie in the Netherlands. Cheered on by the JET support crew, the event concluded with a celebratory gathering at our offices, reflecting on the day’s achievements and an evening of celebrations. Well done to all! 👏 #WeAreJET #Charity

At FoodCycle, we love working with partners who, just like us, are passionate about making our planet and communities healthier and stronger! We are so pleased to be part of the impact Danone has made and genuinely love working together. We have already achieved a lot in our partnership (some of which you can certainly read in their 2023 impact report). This includes their amazing teams supporting our nutritional training, holding inspiring “Data for Good” days giving us valuable insight on our data, Danone staff giving their time to volunteer at local projects, as well as celebrating our volunteers by giving them the five-star treatment at Wimbledon! I really look forward to strengthening our partnership over the next three years and seeing our collective impact grow. 💚

We often see the words ‘impact’ and ‘purpose’ being used when talking about business. And in today’s world, more and more people are wanting to engage with businesses that they feel are authentically working to make a positive impact. Our mission at Danone is to bring health through food to as many people as possible. As a B Corp, we have committed to do that in a way that benefits people, communities and the planet. So we have framed our sustainability journey around three important pillars to have a positive impact on: - the nation’s health - the planet - the lives of our employees and communities   For each pillar we have defined a set of priorities which are translated into mid to long-term objectives, focusing on where Danone can deliver the most impact and value. We call this our Danone Impact Journey. So that’s why I’m really proud to share our 2023 Danone UK & Ireland Impact Report, which showcases the hard work that goes on across our organisation, and with our partners, towards the objectives we have set. From the launch of our sector leading health commitments, to strengthening our carbon reduction roadmap and taking our suppliers on our Impact Journey with us at our first ‘Supplier Partner’ day, there’s lots of great work from our team to reflect on.  Our new report demonstrates how we’re delivering against both our global and local targets, and, importantly, holds us accountable to the progress we still need to make. Because there is more to do.  Read about our progress here: https://lnkd.in/eTaaSXAr

A message from our CEO Sophie Tebbetts regarding the riots and targeted attacks that are taking place in communities across the country.

Communities are at the heart of everything we do at FoodCycle and I am so saddened to see what is happening across the country. Our volunteers and guests have told us they don’t feel safe, police are closing the buildings we operate from and we’re having to cancel meals. At FoodCycle we reject racism, violence and discrimination of any kind and we are working closely with our regional teams to continue to keep meals open where we can, whilst factoring in the safety of our guests and volunteers. I hope that the displays of unity and compassion up and down the country will continue to highlight the importance of community. I know for me they solidify why our work in bringing people together over a shared meal, enabing people to find those points of connection, is so important. We aim to create a space where everyone feels welcome and we will continue to work as hard as we can to support our staff, volunteers, guests and keep our community meals safe.
