This weekend, we return to action after the summer break in the Netherlands, and before looking at the numerous initiatives taking place in Zandvoort, we are finishing our round-up of key ESG initiatives that took place in the first half of the 2024 season. ⚡ F1 used the low-carbon energy generation system again in Austria, which had been trialled at the Red Bull Ring in 2023, where it saved >90% of carbon emissions whilst powering the Pit and Paddock areas. It was also used for the first time in Hungary as F1 looks to expand the project across more European events. Read more about the system here: https://shorturl.at/rYpHR 🥕 The Red Bull Ring prioritises local produce and businesses, with 85% of key suppliers from Austria and half of those coming directly from the region of Styria. 🎓 F1 welcomed 16 of its Engineering Scholars from the UK and Italy to Silverstone, where they received a full day of unique experiences, including Paddock and garage tour and a networking event with F1 supported charity Mission 44. 🤝 F1 supported by charities Make-A-Wish, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Race Against Dementia raised over £60,000 for their respective charities and F1 welcomed critically ill children and their families into the Paddock at Silverstone for behind-the-scenes tours. ♻ Silverstone continues to increase its efforts in powering the event through multiple sources of renewable energy and is aiming to reach a waste recycling rate of 50% across the event. 🎨 The Hungarian Grand Prix partnered with The Institute for the Blind, and students were treated to tours of the Paddock and team garages. They also had the chance to meet their F1 heroes and take part in a special Fan Zone activation that showcased Braille-focused art. 🚌 A continued push by the Belgian Grand Prix encouraged the use of greener travel options, which has resulted in a 40% increase in fans using public transport to reach the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit since 2022. 🚲 98% of visitors to the Dutch Grand Prix are expected to use lower carbon methods of transport to attend the race, with great transport links and a huge push for fans to cycle to the event. As F1 continues on track to be Net Zero by 2030, we’ll bring you updates of the ESG efforts across sport throughout the rest of the season.

As the F1 Summer Break continues, we’re looking back at some of the key ESG highlights from the Grands Prix so far this year, featuring sustainability and social impact initiatives. F1 is on track to reach Net Zero by 2030 and there is a united effort from across the sport to create positive change. Following on from last week’s post where we looked at the first five races of the season, here’s what happened at the next five Grands Prix… 🍔 Ten local minority owned food and beverage vendors were given ‘Golden Tickets’ that gave them the opportunity to trade at the F1 Miami Grand Prix. 🎓 F1 Academy hosted an immersive event in collaboration with Mission 44 and F1 MIA for students to learn more about leadership and the business of motorsport. 🚚 As F1 returned to Europe, the Grands Prix were delivered by biofuel-powered trucks, which last year saved an average of 83% in relevant carbon emissions. 🍝 Il Tortellante, an inclusive community programme that teaches people with Autism how to make fresh pasta by hand, served Paddock guests in Imola (Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari - Formula Imola S.p.A.). 🤝 Awabots continued to connect young fans from local hospitals and organisations to their F1 heroes via a live video stream, beaming them into the Paddock. 💧 In Monaco (Automobile Club de Monaco), a bespoke water desalination system turned seawater into fresh water to wash more than 50,000 reusable cups for fans across the weekend. 🚇 97% of attendees used lower carbon methods to make their way to the FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DU CANADA, with F1 fans encouraged to user greener transport at all events where possible.  ⚡ The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya transitioned to renewable energy sources, including the installation of 1,239 new solar panels. 📝 The British Embassy in Spain met with six STEM and Journalism students who were taking part in the F1 Academy Career Discovery Programme and toured the Paddock with Spanish driver Nerea Martí and British driver Jess Edgar. We’ll round off the key ESG highlights from the first half of the 2024 season ahead of the return to racing action next weekend at the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix, which will also see the fourth F1 ACADEMY race of the season. #F1 #motorsport #ESG #sustainability #diversity #inclusion #community #impact #sportsbiz

In April, F1 launched its first Impact Report, which detailed the sport’s ESG efforts and how it is on track to hit the Net Zero by 2030 goal. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/e7QMV4ma As part of the wider sport's efforts to create a more sustainable F1, during the first five events of the 2024 season… ☀ An on-site 3.5mw solar farm at the Bahrain International Circuit delivered enough clean energy throughout the year to power all F1 requirements. 🏎 Pirelli announced the use of more sustainable FSC-certified tyres for the 2024 season. 🎓 Over 40 schools took part in an initiative at the Saudi Arabian GP to educate and inspire young students from diverse backgrounds, including Saudi Arabia’s first Autism and Disability associations. 📚 F1 Academy invited children from local schools in Jeddah to visit the Paddock at pre-season testing, for the chance to soak in the atmosphere, meet team personnel and drivers, and learn more about the careers available in motorsport. ⚡ Multiple green energy solutions powered the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix, including 100% Certified Green Power from the grid, solar panels, and hydrogen cell and biofuel-powered generators. 🚗 The Safety and Medical Cars were powered by 40% sustainable fuel for the first time. 👨👩👧👦 4,000 local families and students attended a special community Pit Lane experience to get up and close to the team garages at the iconic Suzuka Circuit.
