🌍 Future Planet Capital Announces Strategic Investment in 44.01 Technologies from the Blue Ocean Fund 🌍   We are thrilled to announce that Future Planet Capital, through its Blue Ocean Fund, has invested in 44.01 Technologies as part of its $37M Series A funding round.   44.01 Technologies is at the forefront of climate tech innovation, utilising their pioneering mineralisation technology to eliminate CO2 safely, permanently, and at scale. Two questions facing venture capital firms in today’s investment landscape are: how do you spot potential in a sea of AI startups? Our Head of Global Venture, Ed Phillips recently spoke with Jennifer Forrest at Environmental Finance about some of the current funding challenges facing the Blue Economy, as well as its potential to thrive in the near future. Ed mentioned that Limited Partners are not backing fund managers focused on the Blue Economy because of a lack of “healthy” exits. However, the sector is showing promise, with more “narwhals” – or billion-dollar startups developing marine tech – beginning to emerge. As Ed put it, “It [the Blue Economy] is among the fastest growing segments of the venture capital economy, second only to artificial intelligence (AI).
