Sephora, a leader in the beauty industry, sets the standard for LGBTQ+ representation with nearly 14% of its workforce identifying as LGBTQ+, almost double the national average. Despite anti-discrimination policies, many LGBTQ+ workers still face barriers. According to a Randstad report, 41% of LGBTQ+ employees experience discrimination, leading to higher rates of unemployment and underemployment. Additionally, a quarter of LGBTQ+ workers have encountered derogatory jokes at work, as reported by Out & Equal, contributing to the discomfort of disclosing their identity. The impact of Sephora’s efforts is evident in the comfort employees feel in self-disclosing their identities, contributing to a culture of belonging and acceptance.
